Had given an indication he was on the way back to form when third at Ffos Las in April and duly made no mistake at Aintree next time out, winning easily. Handicapper has hit him with a 10lb rise, but won't mind rain and in good heart.

Very useful handicap hurdler at his peak, and returned to some of his better form when a good winner at Warwick latest start. Handicapper has reacted with a 5lb rise, but still on a good mark historically, goes on most ground, and a follow-up can't be ruled out if in the same form.

Came good at the third time of asking in handicaps at Perth latest, the step up to 3m proving the key. Hit with a 9lb rise for that and in a tougher race here, but may continue to progress. Handles both good and heavy ground.

Has won after a break before, so absence isn't an issue. Quite highly tried over fences when last seen, but also disappointed in a handicap hurdle and despite a good looking mark today, others are preferred.

Quickened up nicely to win his race at Southwell last time, and put any stamina doubts to bed in the process, but that wasn't much of a race for the grade and a 10lb rise looks plenty. Might need the rain to stay away as well, and others looks stronger.

Took advantage of her falling handicap mark to score in a Mares handicap hurdle at Aintree last time (well backed to do so) and 5lb rise still leaves her on a good mark on historical form. Back against the boys here but yard going well and can't be discounted.

Hasn't taken to chasing on his last three starts and back over hurdles here. Did score at Bangor last October but still 5lb higher than that win here, is in a higher grade and still has stamina to prove. Makes little appeal.

Very well handicapped on the best of his form but that's been the case for a while now, and he did no better for the application of cheekpieces at Southwell last time out. Stamina to prove too, and hard to recommend in current frame of mind.

Forecasts

Knight Of Noir (7/2), Paddy's Field (4/1), Land Of Vic (5/1), Big Easy (5/1), The Caller (5/1), Cottersrock (7/1), Kalifourchon (14/1), A Boy Named Suzi (20/1), Vote Of Confidence (50/1)

Verdict

A few of these were winners last time out, and of those THE CALLER is the one that makes the most appeal. The step up in trip brought about plenty of improvement last time out and given he's proven on most ground, looks more adaptable ground-wise than a few of these. He can continue to go forward and can score at the expense of Big Easy, who returned to form at Warwick, and Land Of Vic , who has a harder task here but still looks nicely weighted.

  2. Big Easy
  3. Land Of Vic
