Back in good heart for the start of 2017 and exploited a handy mark on his penultimate start. Not disgraced under 6lb penalty when last seen out and feasible he can go close once more. Won this race in 2014 but stiffer assignment ahead on these terms.

Won a couple of modest races at Yarmouth in May but held from a 6lb higher mark last time out. Also yet to really convince over a mile, as the trip stretches her to the limit. Needs everything to go her way.

Won this in 2015 from a 1lb higher mark and been holding his own in slightly better races than this of late. Recent second over C&D confirmed his well being. One for the shortlist.

Held his form on the AW at the turn of the year before getting back to winning ways on turf at Brighton last moth. This not much tougher and interesting is supported in his bid to follow up under just a 4lb higher mark.

Plummeted in the ratings since his three-year-old season but finally came good again when tried over C&D last time out. He won well on that occasion but a 10lb higher mark looks harsh and he faces a much tougher assignments this time.

Won a couple of weak races on the AW but found things tougher last time.Needs to quickly banish the memory of that run, But not the most reliable and best effort quite some time is now required.

Not too badly treated just now and is very effective over the trip. Has experience of racing at this course but chances would be boosted by any rain.

Forecasts

Aye Aye Skipper (11/4), Stormbound (7/2), Hot Mustard (4/1), Moi Aussie (5/1), Suitsus (6/1), Living Leader (14/1), Edge (14/1)

Verdict

This could lay between previous winners Stormbound and HOT MUSTARD, who are both well treated for their repeat bids for success in this race. Hot Mustard just edges the vote as the better primed candidate on this occasion - his recent second over C&D confirmed his current well being and that he has a persistent liking for this course. Aye Aye Skipper is respected on the best of his efforts but faces a stiff test after a 10lb hike in the ratings, so there may be mileage to be gain in considering Moi Aussie as a potential danger too.
  1. Hot Mustard
  2. Stormbound
  3. Moi Aussie
