A winner at Exeter last November but the form of that hasn't worked out, and it's been all downhill since then. Pulled up when last seen, and has possibly had physical issues, but a bit disconcerting to see both hood and pieces tried tonight. Too soon to write off, but clearly risky now.

Did it well enough when winning at Ludlow in April and possible excuses for below par runs since then (ground too soft at Cartmel last time) but may still be a bit high in the handicap. Not discounted, but others hold stronger claims.

Lightly raced and has shown ability, including a close fourth in a handicap hurdle here back in 2015, but not seen out for almost a year. However, jockey won this for the same yard last year so is worth a look in the market.

These are his ideal conditions and he's got plenty of good placed form at the track, so has plenty to recommend him, but does need to bounce back from a below-par effort at Uttoxeter last time. Has done that before, so can't be discounted.

Well backed to score on the first run for this yard last time out, going off favourite for a handicap chase but gave up the ghost pretty quickly and connections reach for the cheekpieces now. Clearly something better expected then, so not ruled out, but comes with risks already.

Definite promise in novice/maiden hurdles early on but it's all rather unravelled and was last seen being pulled up at Bangor in February. Too soon to write off, and likely better ground here may help, but on balance others preferred.

Go back far enough (to 2014) and he's thrown in on this mark, but there's no win on the board for some time now and recent efforts in point-to-points suggest he's a fading light. Makes little appeal.

Better known as a chaser these days and put in a decent effort when a close third at Worcester in May. Latest effort easily forgiven as saddle slipped, on a fair mark, conditions fine, and chances if he still has the speed for hurdling.

Not beaten far at Ffos Las in April but that piece of form stands out like a beacon among some other very moderate efforts. Well beaten at Worcester earlier in the week and looks an unlikely winner.

In good form over fences but couldn't take advantage of a gilt-edged opportunity last time out (race fell apart) and is higher in the weights here. Likely to run her race but will surely find others stronger in the finish.

Wins every now and then but opposable more often than not, and finds himself racing from out of the handicap here. Possibly better on softer ground too and looks to be biting off a bit more than he can chew.

Forecasts

Billy My Boy (5/2), Tricky (4/1), Nice Thoughts (6/1), Bistouri D'honore (13/2), Triggywinkle (8/1), Moojaned (8/1), Karl Marx (10/1), Scorpion Star (14/1), Guanciale (16/1), Hazamar (25/1), Equleus (25/1), Hurricane Ridge (50/1)

Verdict

BILLY MY BOY is a bit in-and-out, but that applies to plenty of these, and he can bounce back at a track he goes well at. Tricky has clearly had his issues but represents last year's winning trainer/rider and it could be of significance that he makes his reappearance here. Hazamar might be good enough for the minor placing.
