Only the one win from 16 starts so no win machine, but took a step back in the right direction when second to Dream Bolt over C&D last time out. Return to fences and change of headgear may have been responsible for that effort, so under similar conditions here, every chance of going one better.
Looked to have a good future ahead of him when winning a novice hurdle over a similar trip here last July, but it's mainly been a tale of woe since then and has shown signs of temperament too. Tongue tie goes on here, but is a very risky proposition now, despite a tempting looking mark.
Often well backed, and finally delivered when winning at Ffos Las last time out with something to spare. Up 9lb for that and in higher grade here, so may need to progress again, but likely conditions fine and clearly in good heart.
Had looked a weak finisher on first two starts for this yard, but ridden more prominently than has been the case at Stratford last week and won by a long way. Penalty to carry for that here but it won't stop him if he's in the same form, with trip and likely conditions fine.
Often goes well without winning and again turned in a perfectly respectable effort at Exeter when last seen, but overall impression is that the handicapper has him where he wants him at present and may want a bit further than today anyway. Others preferred.
Quietly progressive last year, winning three starts in the early autumn and although she performed with credit on her reappearance at Ffos Las last time (behind Butlergrove King) she may need further than today, and is best watched.
Hard to win with, as a record of 4 wins from 47 starts shows, but often performs with credit went close from a similar mark over C&D in April. Not so good since, but may have found trip too far last time, and back under ideal conditions, might get in the money again.
Forecasts
Speed Demon (1/1), Butlergrove King (5/1), Prettylittlething (7/1), Irish Thistle (8/1), Hughesie (9/1), Quinto (12/1), Mr Mountain (18/1)
Both Hughesie and Butlergrove King come here off the back of solid efforts, and both deserve respect, but they could all be playing for the places if SPEED DEMON turns up in the same form at last week. He took the field apart at Stratford with some tremendous jumping and although the race fell apart, that was mainly down to the way he put them to the sword. A similar performance here makes him hard to beat. Irish Thistle is often placed and may get in the frame again.
- Speed Demon
- Hughesie
- Irish Thistle
