Enjoyed a productive spell between March and June 2015, winning on three occasions in a novice hurdle and pair of novice chases. Predictably found handicapping tough from marks beyond his level of ability since, but better treated over hurdles than over fences. Raced just once in almost twelve months so needs to have come on plenty for that Exeter reappearance.

2/1
2m7f soft ground handicap hurdle winner for Pat Fahey in March 2017 when wearing the first-time blinkers, but unable to follow up from a 7lb higher mark at Kilbeggan. Moved on for £22,000 gns and starts off life in England for a much respected trainer.

Ex Irish, and a dual winner in August 2016 for Sean Thomas Doyle at Tramore and Wexford. Yet to score over this far, but seemingly certain to be more suitable than when third to Lough Kent (2m1f) at Cartmel latest.

Point-to-Point winner who is a 25 race maiden under rules, but has returned from an absence in fair order, and was beaten just 2½L by Prince Mahler at Taunton in April.

Given a 7lb rise by the handicapper for a 3¾L defeat of Sackett over C&D early last month (good). That race was his first start since January (third), so can be expected to improve, and being lightly raced in this grade it's most likely that such improvement will be forthcoming.

Course winner (2m4f in June 2013), he's not short of career experience winning a further two times in 43 other career starts. Thereabouts from this mark (100) on a couple of occasions last month but safe to say that others are probably better treated.

Verdict

This race revolves around the lightly raced, but seemingly progressive Jonjo O'Neill trained C&D winner TERRY THE FISH. A combination of staying trips and switching to handicap company appears to have been the making of this Milan gelding. Therefore, it's highly unlikely that a 7lb rise for a relatively straightforward success will be enough to stop him following up with similar ground conditions likely.
  1. Terry The Fish
  2. Supreme Steel
  3. Craig Star
