Seemingly took an age to win a race but that win did spark a purple patch of form. Looked as though he was still in decent form last time out over 6f at Pontefract despite being a little awkward and should go well in a race like this.
Managed to score each season an gained his 2017 win in a Catterick seller and didn't have an easy task under a penalty last time out. Ran well in that race all things considered although not obviously well drawn here in stall 1 and could get marooned down the middle.
Run well in his last two starts at Thirsk over 6f winning his penultimate one off a 6lb lower mark. Just off 1lb higher here he should still be able to be competitive in this grade.
Usually runs on the AW at Newcastle these days and the losing run is starting to stack up since he last won back in September 2016 off a 2lb higher mark. Looks pretty much exposed though even in a race of this nature but does have a decent draw if he doesn't get too far behind.
After a couple of creditable juvenile performances over 5-6f she rather looks to have lost her way. Tried over 7f last time out after a break she didn't really show enough to be of interest here.
Twice a Thirsk winner last year over 6f with both wins coming off higher marks (now 5lb below his last winning one). Yard are fairly quiet at the moment though and he looks to be merely ticking over.
Plummeting down the handicap since his wins last year at Catterick off much higher marks when with the late David Nicholls. Shaped with some promise last time out at Catterick (first run for this yard) over 5f and dropped a further 2lb and that makes him of interest here.
Lightly-raced sort who hasn't shown much so far with a third in an AW maiden the best he's managed and disappointed on his handicap debut on his last start. Given a break here and returned to 6f but can only be watched on what he's shown so far.
Goes for a new yard here who have been going well of late but this one has work to do with Searanger who he finished behind in a Catterick seller last time over 6f.
2015 saw him record some decent form but he's regressed since then and just looks out of sorts with no real sign that he's going to use this rapidly falling mark.
Forecasts
Carlovian (5/2), Kyllach Me (4/1), Cool Strutter (5/1), Searanger (11/2), Cliff (6/1), Gaelic Wizard (14/1), Hit The Lights (16/1), Peach Pavlova (16/1), Ivors Involvement (33/1), Port Master (66/1)
Not a bad little race of its type with Searanger coming here in decent form along with Kyllach Me and both of those are solid citizens in this grade although the wide draw is a little bit of a worry for the former. Cliff appears to be a more reliable character these days and a little stronger in the finish than he used to with Cool Strutter entering the equation although he’s unlikely to use his good draw, HIT THE LIGHTS has plummeted in the weights but looked as though he still retained some ability after his last run. The Fife yard do well with this sort and he’s certainly of interest at the prices in an open contest.
- Hit The Lights
- Kyllach Me
- Searanger
