Good effort on debut at Pontefract and ran to a similar level here at Hamilton last time out, looking for all the world like an dextra furlong would be a major plus. Bit to find with the principals but may well take another step forward now going up in trip.

Half brother to the smart 6f winner Final Frontier, and this one knew his job on debut, showing plenty of speed to lead at York before weakening late. Will come on for that and looks a big player here.

Ran better on second start at Newcastle than his debut at Leicester, showing speed before weakening late. Needs another step forward form wise and may be one more for nurseries after this run.

Just about sets the standard on his second to Raydiance at Haydock on debut earlier in the month, where he showed bright speed and stuck to the task well once headed. Different ground conditions today but should handle them, and every chance of success if reproducing that run.

£24,000 purchase from sales earlier in year. Yard 1-6 with 2-y-o's last 5 seasons but breeding suggests we won't see the best of this one until going over much further. Others likely to be sharper for today, and is best watched.

Cost £65,000 at sales last year, and yard 9-61 with 2-y-o's at Hamilton last five seasons, but half brother The Secrets Out needed time and didn't win until seeing middle distances. Likely to be all the better for this and unless strong in the market, others preferred.

Cost £110,000 at Breeze-Up sales in April, and is bred to be both classy and have speed (half brother Hitchens very useful at best, rated 113 at peak). Yard have plenty of 2-y-o winners and any market support for this one must be taken seriously.

Forecasts

Poet's Prince (1/1), Phoenix Lightning (4/1), Northern Law (9/2), Medici Oro (11/2), Armed Response (7/1), Drover (14/1), Plundered (22/1), Barney George (33/1)

Verdict

POET'S PRINCE has different ground conditions to cope with here but his debut effort was full of promise and if building on it, looks the one to beat here. His main danger could be newcomer Phoenix Lightning, on paper a speedy type that may well be capable of shaking the selection up. Northern Law and Armed Response can fight out the minor money.
  1. Poet's Prince
  2. Phoenix Lightning
  3. Armed Response
