32,000 gns yearling, not sold (38,000 gns) as a two-year-old. Dam is an unraced half-sister to 7f-1m winner Sunshine Always out of a Group-placed 7f winner and is granddaughter of a 6f juvenile Listed winner. Yard has had just one juvenile winner, plus nine placed, from 25 runners so far on turf this season. Market check suggested.
Has the pedigree of a miler. Sent off at 20-1 on debut (6f, AW) at Newcastle and was keen before being beaten 11L into ninth of 13. Should know more about the game and this is much more suitable as a trip for him. Hope to see significant improvement.
From the first crop of top-class two-year-old and Prix Jean Prat winner Havana Gold. Cost 60,000 gns as a yearling. Stable in a bit better form than when he made his debut at Newmarket (6f, good) last week. Sent off at 25-1 there, he was beaten 3¼L. Step up in trip looks positive and should be thereabouts.
Not far away both here on debut and next time at Ripon (both 5f, good to firm), but well beaten back at the North Yorkshire track last time. Now takes a step up in trip and it will need to being about plenty of improvement if he is to win.
Improved for his 5f debut here when stepped up to 6f at Ripon last time (good to soft), despite being a long way behind the winner. Nonetheless, that level of form is way below what is likely to be required here and he looks likely to need a handicap mark to give him a more obvious chance.
Has improved with each run so far and shown a penchant for fast ground on his last two outings, running his best race yet on it at Lingfield (6f) last time. Another who takes a further step up in trip and that should play to his strengths. Looks a leading player.
Forecasts
Global Wealth (7/4), Ventura Knight (15/8), Far Dawn (11/4), Equidae (8/1), Highland Bobby (16/1), Reinbeau Prince (33/1)
Although Global Wealth is less exposed than VENTURA KNIGHT, the Mark Johnston-trained runners are in tremendous form at present and his colt may be able to break its duck this time, with his extra experience taken as a positive. Global Wealth made a nice debut and is likely to present a challenge, while Equidae and Far Dawn are the other two most likely to be involved at the business end.
