Winner for Lucy Wadham over this trip and also a good third to a well handicapped rival on debut for new yard. Would have found 2m too far last time but has every chance off this mark against this class of opponent.
Winner of five races who looks a difficult ride as he needs to be delivered as late as possible. Hard to know if he gets this trip given his manner of racing and the stiff finish could just as easily work against him as for.
Lightly raced gelding who acquitted himself well at Goodwood on his first run over this distance. Looks the type to continue improving and the mark is workable.
Eight-time winner goes into this 3lb higher than his best winning mark, which was over 1m2f (good to firm) at Beverley in August. Has not been able to get competitive on turf since then and looks in need of assistance from the handicapper before winning again.
Front-runner who usually picks up a race each season from around this mark. The booking of the champion jockey and the first time headgear make him interesting.
Winner in lower grade under this rider at Windsor before failing in the mud next time. Should find these conditions more to his liking and rider 5-15 for the yard.
Forecasts
Daisy Boy (5/2), Pumblechook (11/4), Deep Challenger (3/1), Desert Cross (7/1), San Quentin (10/1), Bridge Of Sighs (11/1)
Just the six line up for and any one of them could land this. Daisy Boy will dictate the pace and having won over 1m5f this uphill finish will be to his benefit. He normally takes a run or two to reach his peak and the booking of the champion rider looks significantly timed. Deep Challenger went well enough at Goodwood off this mark to be a threat but the vote goes to PUMBLECHOOK. Two miles found him out last time but he had gone well behind a well treated rival prior to that. His form of last year puts him on an attractive mark and showed he is suited to a stiff 1m4f such as this. With Daisy Boy to ensure a fair gallop he has a lot going for him.
- Pumblechook
- Daisy Boy
- Deep Challenger
