Pastoral Pursuits gelding, slowly away on both his starts to date and never a factor on either start. This looks tougher again and trainer has a low-strike rate around here.
Lethal Force colt, cost 29,000 gns as a foal and 50,000 gns as a yearling. Half-brother to several useful winners including Group 2 winning sprinter, Priceless. Dam also a sprint winner as a two-year-old. Plenty to like about his chances on paper and enough promise shown on his debut to suggest he can go well here. Looks like a speedy sort so drop back in trip could see him in an even better light and this jockey rides this course well.
Invincible Spirit colt, cost £27,000 as a yearling and £60,000 as a Breeze Up purchase. Showed very little on debut at Beverley but likely he's better than that and should put up a better show here. First-time tongue-tie applied.
Helmet colt, cost £30,000 as a yearling. Dam a half-brother to Listed winner Ba Foxtrot and went well enough on debut when third of eight at Carlisle. That form unlikely to be the strongest here but yard are going well with their juveniles this campaign and he gets the services of a useful 5lb claimer in good form. Each-way player.
Too bad to be true at Musselburgh last time but had shown he had ability prior to that at Hamilton. Level of that form probably needs improving upon to land a blow here though and handicaps are likely to give him better chances.
Arcano colt, cost €2,500 as a foal, €15,000 as a yearling and bought for £26,000 at the Breeze-Ups by this yard back in April. Dam a half-sister to 5f Group 2 winner Sand Vixen and Listed winner So Will I. Could be a little more forward than the average debutante and yard have been in good form in recent weeks. Market check advised.
Showcasing filly with a nice blend of speed and stamina in her pedigree and related to plenty of winners. Only just touched off at Newcastle earlier in the month in a 5f contest but that perhaps not the strongest maiden. Will need to take a step forward but yard well around here and do well with their juveniles so not without a chance.
Dutch Art filly, dam a three-time sprint winner and half-sister to Listed winner Royal Birth. Slightly disappointing favourite on debut having been well-backed, but not beaten all that far and likely to come on plenty for that. Trainer's runners have to be feared around here and any market confidence should be noted.

Forecasts
Tulip Fever (5/2), Magic Mark (7/2), Sosian (4/1), Hard Graft (4/1), Rumshak (6/1), Marnie James (22/1), Laith Alareen (33/1), Bad Dog (66/1), Furze Boy (100/1)
A tricky opener of the card from a betting perspective but HARD GRAFT just shades it after a promising run at Haydock on debut. Tulip Fever was well backed and not beaten far at Nottingham last time and Sosian went close at Newcastle on debut. Rumshak is an interesting debutante and completes the shortlist
- Hard Graft
- Tulip Fever
- Sosian
