Brother to Zenyatta and Irish Leger entry landed a Dundalk maiden and was then handed a stiff opening mark for his handicap debut in April. Never travelling well that day and blinkers go straight on. Needs to bounce back and probably not one to take a short price about until showing more.
Had some smart form for John Gosden in 2015 and would be the clear pick here based on those achievements. Three runs since being acquired by new connections suggest he is not the horse he was.
Winner on yielding to soft last June in a Cork Maiden over 1m½f, 3¼L in front of the Dermot Weld-trained Boca Raton. Admodum was back in third who went on to win on three occasions including a decent Naas handicap in early May. Came to hand early last season and has shown he stays this far. A drop in the weights for his latest run has been kind given that run was clearly wrong.
Not seen since scoring at Dundalk in November when sent off at 33/1. Fairly treated on that effort but will probably need this.
Winner of eight races and primarily an AW performer these days and effective from 1m2f-1m6f. Her turf and AW ratings have closely mirrored each other in the past but the current 13lb discrepancy for this makes her one to take seriously.
Landed a Lingfield maiden for Harry Dunlop and lost his way subsequently. Has plenty to find and trainer looking for his first winner on the Flat.
Would be getting plenty of weight from these if this were a handicap even when factoring in rider's 10lb claim. Shaped a lot better under a positive ride at Ayr two weeks ago but needs a lot of these to run below par. Tongue-tie now fitted.
Winner here over a mile and stays this trip. Would have found the trip too sharp last time but has ideal conditions here. Top rider on board and should be thereabouts.
Not the force of old and without a win since scoring here over a mile almost two years ago. Has primarily raced over a mile but has been placed over this trip at Dundalk. Headgear tried for the first time on reappearance failed to have a similar impact last week.
Forecasts
Crafted Jewel (3/1), Rummaging (5/1), Archer's Up (5/1), De Coronado (6/1), Prove The Point (7/1), Keble (8/1), Poitin (12/1), Dovil's Duel (14/1), California Lad (25/1)
De Coronado would prove different class to these if living up to his illustrious pedigree or his prestigious Group One entry. Given the lack of promise on his return he may be one to have reservations about. Crafted Jewel came to hand early last season and her current rating looks attractive given the performances she produced off higher marks. Hailing from an in form yard, and on a track where she has performed well, there is a plenty to recommend her. Rummaging showed glimpses of a return to form at Dundalk in first time cheekpieces but was less convincing here next time.POITIN is more of an AW performer these days where she is rated much higher than on turf. That has not always been the case and she gets our vote to take advantage of the discrepancy.
- Poitin
- Crafted Jewel
- De Coronado
