Won a Newmarket maiden back in 2015 but hasn't won since and well beaten on both starts this year. Needs to learn to settle better if he is to be seen to best effect.

Scored on first two starts for this yard having previously been hurdling with the Donald McCain yard but hasn't managed to get his head in front since and starting to look a little exposed off this sort of mark. Would probably prefer faster ground than what he'll get here and looks up against it for now.

Arrives in search of a hat-trick after losing his maiden tag this time last month before following up at Pontefract. Unlikely to be done improving yet and trainer/jockey have excellent records at this course, both individually and when combining. Could be hard to beat.

Listed winner in Leopardstown back in 2014 but clearly had his issues since then and only seen at the racecourse twice more prior to 2017. Has made an underwhelming start for this yard, though flickers of a revival last time despite finishing last.

Out of sorts last time at York but he's generally a consistent sort and he won over C&D in spring 2016 so clearly enjoys this test. Type to bounce back and has been dropped one 1lb in the handicap so not without an each-way chance.

Off the mark at the third attempt at Nottingham last time staying on gamely in the final stages. Slightly disappointing having been a well-backed short-priced favourite on both of his previous starts. Should keep improving this year and yard couldn't be in better form.

Forecasts

First Voyage (6/5), Mutadaffeq (9/4), Sindarban (13/2), Mustajeer (9/1), Marmajuke Bay (16/1), Parish Boy (40/1)

Verdict

MUTADAFFEQ arrives here in search of his third win on the bounce and it would be no surprise to see him return to the winners circle once again for connections who do well around here. First Voyage represents the Charlie Appleby stable who are flying currently and he may improve for this run. Marmajuke Bay was a little disappointing last time but is the type to bounce back.
  1. Mutadaffeq
  2. First Voyage
  3. Marmajuke Bay
