Yet to win a race from eight attempts at up to 1m2f, so now gets a step up in trip that is latest effort suggests may well be a positive move. Race from same mark today and again has each-way claims.

Ran reasonably well in a couple of Dundalk maidens in November/December, going up 2lb for the last of those (1m4f). Slight drop in trip doesn't appear to be a problem here and her only run with cut in the ground is insufficient evidence to say she doesn't act on it. Check out the market on her handicap debut.

It's a long time since he last got competitive in handicap company and he is now 23lb lower than this time last year. Last seen falling in a Cartmel hurdle and not easy to enthuse about his chance.

Won a soft ground handicap here over 1m½f almost two years ago from 12lb higher and went well from higher still later on at Pontefract (1m, heavy). Conditions to his liking then, but he has had those a few times in the interim and not been able to take advantage. Nicely treated now and a market check is advised.

Her last two successes have been here over 1m4f (good to firm/good) from 7lb higher and 3lb higher. Went close from today's mark over 1m6f at Musselburgh last time and a very competitive effort is anticipated.

1-15, that win being at Ayr (1m2f, good to soft) last August. 1lb higher going into this, which is 2lb lower than his latest respectable run at Newcastle, where he was a neck behind Yensir. 1lb worse with that rival today, but unexposed over this little bit further and not ruled out.

Has regularly run well here and won over 1m½f (good to soft) back in 2014 from 12lb higher. Trip won't be a problem, but doesn't possess much in the way of gears and others look more likely to be coming home in front.

13-race maiden who is dropped another 3lb here for a 14L beating on his stable debut/reappearance at Redcar in April. Trainer has had a bit of time with her since, which may help elicit some improvement, but needs plenty of that to be winning.

Well beaten in a bumper and four maidens from 1m-1m4f on the Flat. Goes handicapping from a basement mark, but does not look an obvious debut winner in this sphere for all of that.

Forecasts

Yensir (10/3), Highway Robber (4/1), Paddy's Rock (11/2), Dizoard (6/1), Ruth Melody (13/2), Schmooze (7/1), Tambour (7/1), Moon Over Rio (7/1), Cadmium (9/1), Clayton Hall (22/1), Python (80/1)

Verdict

Cadmium has been on the slide of late but has dropped to a handy mark and money for him would probably be significant. Tambour is another who may do better now upped to this trip, while the same goes for Highway Robber. However, SCHMOOZE comes here in good form and can make it a third course win.
  1. Schmooze
  2. Tambour
  3. Highway Robber
