Has had his problems but connections have persevered and signs this season that there are races to be won with him. Beaten less than 3L in a deeper race over 1m4f (good) at Goodwood latest and stronger assistance from the saddle now.

Looked backward on only juvenile start before missing all of last season, but clear signs of promise when fourth in a maiden over 1m2f at Windsor (good to firm) last time out. Beautifully-bred and opening handicap mark could be lenient.

Cost 165,000 guineas but failed to impress on only three-year-old start and only ordinary form in two maidens this year at around 1m. That said, longer trip should elicit improvement on his handicap bow so folly to dismiss from a lowly mark.

Still sporting a maiden tag after 12 outings on the Flat and over jumps and is clearly exposed. Decent enough effort to finish second in a weak race over 1m2f at Bath (firm) latest but this looks tougher. Cheekpieces reached for.

Unfancied and well beaten in all nine of his starts to date, including when never getting into contention in a modest handicap over 2m (good to firm) at Chepstow last month. Hard to build a serious case for.

Forecasts

Hawkerland (5/6), Falak (3/1), Bostonian (4/1), St Andrews (11/1), Rob's Legacy (100/1)

Verdict

There is a lot to like about HAWKERLAND'S pedigree and, though he has been slow to come to hand, it would be no surprise to see him exploit a lenient-looking mark on his handicap debut in the hands of Ryan Moore. That said, Falak should improve a chunk over this longer trip as he too makes a handicap bow and is unlikely to go down without a fight. The lightly-raced Bostonian is by far the most interesting of the remainder.
  1. Hawkerland
  2. Falak
  3. Bostonian
