Won a couple of good ground novices' hurdles lately at around 2m4f before going down under a double penalty when well beaten at Carlisle last time. Now returns to chasing for the first time since joining this yard , over a trip shorter than his 2m6f win when in Ireland. Likely to need to be somewhere near his best to win it.
Has notched up 13 wins at 2m4f to around 3m, including seven here. Acts on most ground and has enjoyed a red hot spring, although was held from 1lb lower last time. Handicapper may have caught up with him but can't be ruled out.
Won a Wincanton bumper (heavy) in 2015 but seen only four times since. The most recent of those was his chase debut at Warwick last month, when a 33L third (2m, good). Should do better now stepped back up in trip and dropped 2lb and a market check is advised.
Sole win under rules was here over 3m (good) in a maiden hurdle last summer. Has been over fences for both his last two starts, making the frame first time at Ludlow (3m, good) and beaten 6L at Newton Abbot (2m5f, good) last time. Not sure he is showing the pace to win over this trip.
Has won three times over hurdles at trips of 2m7f-2m7½f on good and good to soft. Yet to show he is as effective over this short and pulled up last time on his chasing debut. Improvement not ruled out, but does take a leap of faith to seeing him suddenly coming good again.
Still 7lb higher than when recording his sole win at Huntingdon (2m4f, good) in May last year. Ran well from a higher mark than this at Uttoxeter in September, but not much inspiration either side of that and can't be recommended with confidence.
Both wins have been around the undulations of Hexham, one of them over fences (2m4f, good) in October from 7lb lower. Ran with credit from this mark last time but will need to find a bit extra to be capable of winning this.
Two wins in the past few weeks suggest that there is life in the old legs yet and on the bare facts of his form last time, a 5L win at Fakenham (3m, good) a 7lb penalty looks within ranger. However, it will be tougher for him trying to defy that back over this shorter trip, despite his good course form here.
Forecasts
See The World (3/1), Doitforjoe (7/2), Mille Nautique (5/1), Riddlestown (11/2), Court King (13/2), Quick Brew (10/1), The Doorman (12/1), That's The Deal (14/1)
Quite a few of these come here in decent form, though they are also on the cusp of being nabbed by the handicapper again, so the suggestion is the unexposed SEE THE WORLD, who has had just the one chase outing over an inadequate trip. This should suit better and he looks worth chancing. Riddlestown, That's The Deal and Quick Brew are the others most likely to make a race of it.
