First start for this yard but comes here in good form having won when last seen at Market Rasen and raised 2lb for that. Trip and forecast ground no problem and he goes well here too, so plenty going for him.
Joint top weight after winning three of his last four from around 2m-2m4f and on going ranging from good through to soft. Up 8lb for making all to win by over 4L at Sedgefield last time and should make a bold bid once again.
At here best on a sound or fast surface, her latest success was by 11L on firm ground at Leicester (2m) in December. 7lb higher these days but went very close off this mark at Market Rasen in April and has the ability to go close now back in this class of race.
Handles most ground and trainer hasn't been to the well too often, having run him just 20 times, placing him well to win five of those. Has won when fresh once, though has tended to need a run and looks to be weighted up to the hilt at present.
3lb better off for 4½L with Maxed Out King on their Sedgefield running earlier in the spring and has been a fine servant to connections. He should be able to finish closer to Sue Smith's charge over this shorter trip at which he is most effective and now back just 2lb higher than his last win. Competitive.
Both his wins have been at around this trip and on a sound surface, so those are positive, although he has gone up 6lb for finishing runner-up last time and recent form suggests that it will be a step too far for him.
Acts on both a sound surface and with cut in the ground, though arguably he is best over 2m3f+ these days and not scored over the minimum trip since 2013. Up 3lb here for winning at Market Rasen recently and entitled to be thereabouts if he can reproduce that sort of effort.
Sedgefield specialist, where four of his six career wins have been recorded, including over a similar trip last month (good) from 5lb lower. Well held over both fences and hurdles since and others preferred this time.
Forecasts
Minella Forfitness (4/1), Maxed Out King (4/1), Boss Des Mottes (9/2), Little Pop (5/1), Virnon (11/2), Chestnut Ben (7/1), Thankyou Very Much (10/1), Muwalla (25/1)
Chestnut Ben should again be very competitive here, while Thankyou Very Much will probably appreciate the drop in class, but preference is for MAXED OUT KING. Sue Smith's gelding has been asked a more serious question by the handicapper, but he could still get them all on the stretch here and won't be lacking for stamina. Virnon again looks a danger, while Minella Forfitness would again have a squeak if we could rely on him to be more consistent.
- Maxed Out King
- Virnon
- Chestnut Ben
