Gradually stepped up in distance in maidens and got off the mark last time at Thirsk over 1m4f contesting a weaker maiden than he had previously. Showed a good attitude to beat one who was a subsequent winner and doesn't look too harshly treated on handicap debut although the yard are only punching at about par with their handicap debutantes.
Unsurprisingly for one from this yard he like to be positively ridden and looked a little more polished when winning an AW maiden over 1m2f at Chelmsford. Up in grade and disappointed last time out at Newmarket in a handicap for the first time although that would have been a tough enough contest and will appreciate the ease in class here and probably the increased trip.
From a yard that is going well at the moment and punches above its weight with handicap debutantes (very respectable 15% strike-rate) he steps up 4f in trip here. This will only be his second run on turf but he showed up well in an AW mile maiden last time out that both the third and fourth have since won from. Gets the test of stamina that he needs here and a very interesting contender with improvement to come.
One of the more experienced in this company but yet to win in handicaps and although this trip looks to suit him better there may not be that much improvement to come. Reverts to turf after running his last six starts on the AW although his one win did come on turf at Musselburgh over a mile.
Has looked better now that he's been stepped up in trip and the furthest distance that he's tried so far saw him off the mark on his third start in a handicap over 1m4f on the AW. That form was an improvement but that positive thought has to be tempered by the fact that he got the run of the race and may face competition for the lead here off a 4lb higher mark.
Forecasts
Special Relation (7/4), Globetrotter (5/2), True Romance (3/1), Specialist (13/2), Tor (14/1)
Despite the small field this should be run at a decent tempo with Specialist and True Romance looking likely to take the field along. Both would have chances but the balance of power is more likely to stay with the handicap debutantes Globetrotter and SPECIAL RELATION. The former doesn’t look too badly treated on his debut in handicaps but it’s the latter who has the slight edge with this trip looking to really suit with more progress in the locker.
- Special Relation
- Globetrotter
- True Romance
