Hat-trick seeker who has shown great improvement this season having been lightly-raced at two and three. Up 7lb for a victory at Bath last time but took that race in convincing style and certainly has the potential to improve again.

Consistent type who steps up to this trip for the first time having proven effective over 1m2f. Goes up only 1lb for a victory last time out and looks to have a great chance of adding to that in conditions which should suit.

Ran a fair race over 2f shorter here last time out behind Impressive Day having clearly found his handicap ceiling late last season after a fine run of form. On the same mark now but there's no obvious reason he should reverse form with that reopposing rival.

Winner at this course over shorter last time out having taken a while to return to form following a prolonged absence from the track. Up 8lb now which is probably to be expected, but still not without a chance.

C&D winner who also won here over shorter two starts ago, but has never won off this handicap rating (or higher), and is open to much less improvement than the others in the field.

Forecasts

Mornington (11/8), Wapping (7/2), Impressive Day (4/1), Rubensian (5/1), Roy Rocket (9/1)

Verdict

WAPPING has impressed with his consistency recently and looks to still be going the right way following a victory at Bath last time. He is put up only 1lb for that and though he'll probably need to show more to get his head in front here, he definitely has the potential to show that improvement, especially in conditions that should suit him well, including a step up in trip. He is preferred to Mornington, who has to defy a 7lb rise in the weights for a convincing victory last time, and Impressive Day, a course winner last time.
  1. Wapping
  2. Mornington
  3. Impressive Day
