Just 2lb higher than her last winning mark and not beaten far on her first start of the new campaign at Pontefract last month. Sound claims in a weak event like this if capable of dishing out a repeat dose.
Only his third start in a handicap but is already receiving a little help from the handicapper. Goes left-handed for the first time on turf but stamina for the trip is much more of a concern.
Stays 1m2f well and has leading claims on the form of her seasonal return at Leopardstown in April. Two subsequent starts not so good but noteworthy that she comes over from Ireland when there is less than £3k on offer to the winner. One to seriously consider if the market vibes are positive.
Was well ahead of Tambour last time out at Hamilton and can be confidently expected to uphold that form if in the same frame of mind. The fact he is a previous C&D from a 20lb higher mark. also highlights his cause - even though he is inconsistent and remains a risky option for maximum faith.
Rewarded his previous trainer with a couple of wins after a hectic 2016 in which he ran 16 times. Now back on a handy mark but starts this season have been poor and needs to improve greatly in first-time blinkers on his debut for a new yard.
Finished last on only try over C&D and hard to fancy on the evidence of his recent profile. Still lightly raced but quite safe to assume his record will read 0-from-8 post-race.
Forecasts
Haymarket (2/1), Rubis (3/1), Reinas Queen (10/3), Whitchurch (5/1), Tambour (10/1), Scannermandango (28/1)
Possible this could be the start of a busy week for RUBIS, who also has an option of heading to Yarmouth on Tuesday. This looks far easier and, assuming the ground doesn't scupper her claims with serious deterioration, Richard Fahey's filly can be expected to make a bold bid for glory. Irish raider Reinas Queen will be a big threat if running anywhere near the form she showed at Leopardstown on her seasonal debut, while the fact that the inconsistent Haymarket appeals as the best of the rest underlines why only a minimum stakes play would be recommended where any of the rest are concerned.
- Rubis
- Reinas Queen
- Haymarket
