Versatile and suited by the trip. Poor run last time out but leading claims on the pick of his form if that latest run can be forgiven.

C&D winner off this mark, so feasible chance on these terms. First start on turf of the new campaign but been sharpened up by a couple of spins on the AW. Weighted to the hilt but interesting if backed.

Not won since racecourse debut in 2014 but rounded off that season with a strong piece of form when second in the Horris Hill at Newbury. Possibly still suffering the after effects even now as he is still only 11lb below that mark despite a long losing run. Suited by trip and ground and decent claims if he can turn back the clock.

First time back over 7f this season but is versatile regarding the trip and ground which will help on this stamina demanding track. Gone close off this mark before so has to make the shortlist.

Posted an eye-catching effort to win on debut over 6f at Doncaster last month. Open to bags of improvement and, as a half-brother to a good number of winners from 6f up to 10f, he should be suited by the step up in trip. Bonus that his yard is flying and dangerous to underestimate despite the lack of experience.

Been a while since he managed to get his head in front. Last season's form would be good enough for him to be considered for a place in the frame. But efforts in 2017 have been poor and he has a lot to prove just now.

Well travelled and on a handy mark but form in the UK has been very modest. Others make much more appeal.

Form only modest lately but has always been better on turf so should appreciate the switch away from the AW surfaces. Rated 12lb higher in this sphere so still faces a stiff test. Fact he didn't really act on this track on his sole previous visit is also a concern.

Forecasts

Alaadel (1/1), Goring (5/1), Fox Trotter (6/1), Ower Fly (6/1), Claymore (10/1), Fiftyshadesofgrey (10/1), Cincuenta Pasos (12/1), Winklemann (12/1), Peak Storm (20/1), Evanescent (50/1)

Verdict

Alaadel is the obvious improver and, odds permitting, may be worth a saver. However, GORING is open to a bit of improvement back over 7f and makes an equal amount of appeal from a punting perspective. He is versatile regarding the ground and would be dangerous to underestimate. Similar comments apply to Fox Trotter despite his long losing run, while Cincuenta Pasos goes well here and is worth a check in the betting.
  1. Goring
  2. Alaadel
  3. Fox Trotter
