Shown some ability in maidens with his sixth a Redcar on his seasonal return a decent effort and showing that it was handicaps that were now needed. Didn't really impress on his handicap debut though although he was never really in the race on a speed track and his handicap mark is still open to question.

Got off the mark with a win over C&D on his second start in a handicap off a 2lb lower mark when 3/1f but he's failed to back that up twice now despite being well fancied on both occasions. Visor now goes on for the first time in a bid to eke out some more improvement.

Redcar maiden winner last year over 6f he's run in two handicaps at Leicester this year and hasn't had the best of fortune in that pair of runs. She bumped into an improver on the first occasion and had a hopeless task from her position last time and eased a couple of pounds and given an extra furlong she's of interest here.

Winner of a Carlisle nursery on her final start last year over 7f (suited by strong pace) and not seen again. More than likely needed the race on her seasonal reappearance after such a long break in far from ideal conditions and this run is likely to tell us more.

Took a while to get off the mark but did so last time out back on the AW showing some improvement and overcoming trouble in-running although the reduced mark also helped. Now back up in grade off a 4lb higher mark he might have to show more again.

Likely to be the less fancied of the two runners from this yard and still to get off the mark. Did show some improvement back in a maiden last time out but it was fairly modest form and more needed here off a mark she's been beaten off before.

Appears to have come back an improved model in handicaps as a three-year-old and that was probably the plan after his juvenile campaign. Showed the benefit of his good return to action when winning at Brighton last time out over 7f off a 4lb lower mark and the rise in the weights here forces him back into a higher grade.

Forecasts

Pass The Cristal (9/4), Champion Harbour (10/3), The Stalking Moon (7/2), Il Sicario (9/2), Mr Coco Bean (8/1), Greenview Paradise (12/1), Kilbaha Lady (16/1), Mayleen (16/1)

Verdict

Hard to find one with outstanding credentials with quite a few having to build on their last runs or improve on them again like Pass The Cristal and Champion Harbour. In a race without seemingly much pace in it it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Il Sicario go to the front and grab the initiative being from the Johnston yard that do well around here. Mayleen is interesting going handicapping with a run under her belt but THE STALKING MOON has “excuses” for her two defeats so far this year and might just be better for the step up to 7f this time around.
  1. The Stalking Moon
  2. Il Sicario
  3. Pass The Cristal
