Won twice over this trip in the space of a week as a juvenile in August 2016 and demonstrated at Group 3 level later that campaign that she handles good to soft ground. Really deep conditions might be a worry, but ran well when fourth to subsequent winner Copper Knight at Chester last month.

Scored three times in 2016, and showed her toughness with gritty AW successes at Newcastle and Southwell when last in action during November. Up a further 6lb and switched back to turf for her seasonal reappearance, but quite possible that these ground conditions will suit.

Made it seventh time lucky when landing what was effectively a match based on the betting at Thirsk early last month (5F good to firm). Not disgraced in better company at York thereafter (with cut in the ground), and this step up in trip isn't at all a worry.

Enjoyed a fairly reliable juvenile campaign, winning at Ripon in August 2016 (6F good) and has kept fairly decent company since her return at Newmarket in April. That said, she's not shown masses of promise, but has at least dropped 5lb in the handicap as a result.

Won twice as a juvenile with cut in the ground at Thirsk and Yarmouth (5F and 6F), but has been slowly away on both of her starts so far this term. Probably capable of better, and on a fair mark (76) with conditions to suit if the first time blinkers help her to break on terms.

Two of her three career successes (both over 7F) have come at this track, so she clearly enjoys the Cumbrian air. However, she has done plenty of racing on a fast surface, which was the prevailing conditions when she finished runner up to Bint Arcano at Catterick last week. Trip sharp enough.

Forecasts

Partitia (9/4), Love Island (11/4), Storm Cry (7/2), Savannah's Dream (7/2), Savannah Slew (5/1), Spin Doctor (7/1), New Road Side (8/1), Maureb (9/1), Alexandrakollontai (12/1)

Verdict

A decent contest for fillies which forms the centre-piece of the Carlisle Friday action. LOVE ISLAND was strongest at the finish despite her rider dropping his whip inside the final furlong when edging out Fredricka at Newcastle last week (New Road Side held in third). In foal, she is turned out quickly under a penalty against better opposition which includes Alexandrakollontai, Partitia and Spin Doctor, but she might just have one more race in her assuming the ground doesn't become an absolute bog.
  1. Love Island
  2. Alexandrakollontai
  3. Partitia
