Some promising Flat form on the continent but has been disappointing in three starts over hurdles for top jumps trainer. Hard to be too confident returning from a layoff.
Now ten-years-old but thriving this year with pair of wins including over shorter trip here in February. Scored again since at Leicester (1m4f, soft) and only beaten by Viewpoint at Catterick five days ago.
Lightly-raced winner on Flat, bit disappointing over hurdles a fortnight ago when sporting first-time blinkers (retained). Down in trip now back in this sphere and appears to have questions to answer.
Obviously late coming to hand and makes only limited appeal on breeding. Has to step up considerably on recent Kempton bow when well held in a maiden over 7f having been sent off 100/1.
Three wins from 19 AW starts, the last of which was in February 2016 and recent efforts have not seen him in his best light. Visor back on now and has won over the C&D before so perhaps not ruled out of calculations.
Beat Retrieve by 1¾ lengths in a seller at Catterick (1m5f, good to firm) just five days ago. Every chance the pair will lock horns once again in the closing stages here.
Free-going sort who is still a maiden but has run some creditable races on the AW, well beaten of at Brighton a fortnight ago and looks to be up against things once more.
Forecasts
Viewpoint (6/5), Retrieve (9/4), Dakota City (5/1), Azari (8/1), Irish Hawke (33/1), Just Fred (100/1), Columbian Cartel (200/1)
Retrieve has been in excellent heart this year and the ten-year-old found just one too strong last time at Catterick in seeking a third win of the year. That one was VIEWPOINT who did his job well enough then to suggest he'll be up to confirming the placings and that might be enough to see him double up in what isn't a strong field. Azari is a rare runner here for the Ditcheat team and will be interesting in the market while another jumper, Irish Hawke, might also hold some place claims just ahead of Dakota City who hasn't shone for some time.
