Only cost £800 as a three-year-old and comes from a yard not known for their bumper runners/winner (1/18 since 2012) and wears a tongue strap for his debut. Dam ran twice on Flat out of Cheveley Park and Sussex Stakes winner Marling.

Stable that are no stranger to success at this course over the years and since 2012 have a record of 4/18 at the course and generally perform above par with their bumper debutantes. This one is a brother to three winners including fairly useful hurdler Listen And Learn who ran twice in point-to-points showing limited promise but now runs under Rules for a leading yard.

One of only two in this field to have had a run so far finishing fourth (of 11) in a Newcastle bumper last November when starting 2/1f in a race where the winner (Solighoster) has won twice over hurdles and the second (Mayo Star)won a bumper next time out. Shaped with promise in that outing (traded as low as evens in-running) and will have come on in terms of fitness and experience. Stable have a 27% strike-rate in bumpers since 2012.
Not a yard noted for their bumper winners (0/10 since 2012) and that record looks unlikely to be improved here by this son of Kayf Tara out of a King's Theatre mare.

Cost €27,000 as a three-year-old and is the first foal of a lightly raced dam by Brian Boru. Yard don't have many bumper runners but it pays to take a look when they do as they are 3/7 since 2012 including a debut winner and are 1/1 here in the same time frame. Worth a check in the market as this one won her last two point-to-point starts ridden by Jamie Codd on each occasion.

9/2
Ex-Godolphin gelding who cost £18,000 after being originally bought for €200,000. Half-brother to a winner in Tabaayun out of a dam who was a 5-6f winner. Yard can have winners in this sphere and worthy of respect here.
Makes his debut for this year's Grand National winning yard having cost €15,000 as a three-year-old and has some useful relations in the pedigree half-brother to useful hurdler/chaser Isleofhopendreams . Stable have a modest record in this sphere and are 0/20 in bumpers at this track since 2012 and one of two runners in this race.
Fourth foal with the dam being a winner in point-to-points. Yard 0/28 in bumpers since 2012 and others are much preferred here.

33/1
The only other one with racecourse experience with two efforts to her name split by 22 months and not beaten far last time out despite finishing last of six. Showed a little bit of ability on that run and could step forward although the surface will be very different.
Not hard to find success for this yard in bumpers down the years for this yard at the track although their "form" has dipped a little in recent years. Still have a very respectable strike rate in bumpers since 2012 (17%) and their debutantes at Perth in the same time frame are 3/7 (2241711 overall). This one is a sister to the fair hurdler Weyburn (2m4f winner) and makes her debut here after being pulled-up in a point-to-point.
Second runner in the race for this yard who debuts with a tongue tie on. Second foal of an unraced dam who has some useful relations in her pedigree most notably Oscar Time.

Forecasts

Nando (5/2), Arizona Bound (3/1), Special Prep (4/1), Good Man (9/2), Mighty Thunder (10/1), Drumnagreagh (12/1), Rubydoobs (22/1), Archies Bet (25/1), Royal Summit (25/1), Olivia Joan (33/1), Ginny Brig (50/1)

Verdict

This looks quite a decent bumper with two very good Irish protagonists in this field in Gordon Elliott and Stuart Crawford represented by Arizona Bound and Drumnagreagh respectively and given the record of those two in this sphere those two are respected. Good Man and Special Prep are also interesting especially the latter whose trainer (Pauline Robson) has a very good record in this field from a limited amount of runners. Overall though this might go the way of another yard who are always to be watched in bumpers (Nicky Richards) who runs NANDO in this and he shaped like a future winner at Newcastle on his only start so far.
  1. Nando
  2. Special Prep
  3. Drumnagreagh
