Bangor novice hurdle winner in April over nearly 3m that finally saw him off the mark and that led to him making a belated handicap debut 2m4f here last time. That trip looked a little short and a return to further should help of just a 1lb higher mark.
Bumper winner who got off the mark on his fourth hurdles start at Plumpton benefitting from a more positive ride although his two handicap runs since stepping up in trip both times have been rather underwhelming. Looked a rather awkward sort last time at Wincanton and steps up in trip off the same mark here and others look better options in this.
Started life with David Pipe and won a chase for him here over 2m4f before being switched to his current yard for whom he had looked to be showing a little more for until a rather poor run back over hurdles last time (may have needed the run and was without his usual cheekpieces) Hard to know what to expect although the handicapper is starting to relent a little.
Still a maiden over hurdles but has run some fair races over hurdles of late with one of the best coming last time out here over C&D when third to the in-form Jester Jet. Seen to good effect there under a change of tactics making the running and rallying when headed nearing the last.
A winner here in April over C&D off a mark of 98 gaining his first win he failed to follow that up last time out looking unsuited by the way the race was run (relative test of speed and not stamina). Finished just in front of This Thyne Jude but has work to do to reverse the form with a couple of other (Johnny Go and Dubai Devils).
A course regular she's run his last seven races around here winning off a mark of 95 over C&D two starts ago proving well suited by the strong pace the race was run at. Has had excuses in a couple of subsequent starts and not totally written off if she gets a strongly run race off a mark 8lb above her last winning one.
Has plummeted down the weights and has flirted with winning because if that but has shown no real signs of winning now down to a mark of 102. May have needed the run last time out though so whilst not totally a forlorn hope he's not one for maximum confidence.
Winner here over C&D and came out the best of these when chasing home Jester Jet on his penultimate out over the same C&D in a race where he showed his best and the benefit of a break. Ran a creditable race over fences last time out and should be capable of getting involved quickly back over hurdles.
The second of two runners in this for the stable with this one having had a fair bit of experience around here but he looked well held in two races at the end of the last year. Has no great record fresh and best watched here.
Not really one to rely on being a mainly poor maiden over hurdles but he did run a lot better than his final position last time out over a shorter trip here (did too much too soon). Hard to know if that piece of form should be trusted and runs from well out of the handicap here.
Forecasts
Dubai Devils (11/4), The Caller (4/1), Work Du Breteau (11/2), Johnny Go (11/2), Late Date (11/2), Thorpe (9/1), This Thyne Jude (14/1), Border Breaker (22/1), Solway Prince (28/1), Karingo (66/1)
Hardly a race full of potential or solid contenders and the longer trip should suit Work De Breteau who looked a little tapped for toe last time out. Johnny Go fared beast of a group who ran behind Jester Jet last time out and with Richard Johnson replacing a 7lb claimer DUBAI DEVILS may well be able to reverse that form. Late Date will be better suited by a strongly run race while Thorpe is now on a mark where if he does find some form he’s going to look really well handicapped.
- Dubai Devils
- Johnny Go
- Work Du Breteau
