Pulled up in the Scottish National when last seen out but will be suited by this drop in trip. Long losing run but has dropped to a handy mark as a result.
Returned in good form this year and was yet to deliver his challenge when he unseated when last seen out. Safe to assume he is unscathed from that experience but he does need to prove he has the stamina to cope over this extended 3m trip.
Steadily getting the hang of things over fences but makes his handicap debut at a competitive level. Has a bit to prove over the trip.
Yard strongly represented today and this fellow is another with sound claims on the pick of his form. Ran well in a narrow defeat at Roscommon last month will be a big threat to all from just a 2lb higher mark. Versatility on the ground also a bonus.
Won over 2m1f at Tipperary last time out and is obviously in good hear. The step up in trip and 6lb higher mark make for a stiff test this time around though.
Trip shouldn't be an issue and interesting that connections are opting to reach for the blinkers on his first start for a new yard. One to keep tabs on in the betting.
Solitary win over fences came in a match race at Ayr last February but does have snippets of form that suggest he has another prize within him. Recent efforts suggest he may have to wait a little while longer though.
Won a maiden hurdle at this course and not disgraced over 2m4f in his last couple of races. Bit to prove now he's back up in trip but on a handy mark if he can pull something out of the fire.
Unexposed over the trip and was in the process of running a big race when he came down at Punchestown last time out. May have more to offer and interesting he turns out so quickly. One to bear in mind.
Mixed completion record last season and difficult to assess after a long lay off. May be one to keep tabs on from here.
Good effort to finish third at Punchestown last time. Likely to have been a different scenario if Mr Boss Man had stayed on his feet though. Should run his race but others may have his measure.
Stays well and is just 4lb higher than his last winning mark. Decent effort last time out and sound claims if using that as a platform.
Useful point-to-point form but has been off since December and no easy task from 6lb higher than her last winning mark.
Two starts over fences since the turn of the year have been modest at best. Hard to fancy on that evidence and others make a lot more appeal.
Forecasts
Phil's Magic (5/1), Rock On Fruity (6/1), Garrai Phaidin (7/1), Cahirconree (7/1), Thomond (7/1), Mr Boss Man (9/1), The Gatechecker (11/1), Mtada Supreme (11/1), Hard To Call (12/1), Windy Millie (12/1), Man With Van (20/1), Tom Horn (20/1), Captain Hox (20/1), Fr Humphrey (25/1)
Noel Meade has his string in fine fettle just now and THOMOND catches the imagination as one that can keep the ball rolling. He ran a blinder at Roscommon last month and, from 2lb a higher mark, may be hard to peg back if in the same frame of mind. Mr Boss Man is open to improvement over the trip, so also merits a check in the betting, while Phil's Magic is capable of getting involved in the thick of the action if set alight by the first-time headgear.
- Thomond
- Mr Boss Man
- Phil's Magic
