Fairly useful on the Flat (won over 1m at Navan off a mark of 67) and has adapted well to hurdles. Open to further improvement and worth a check in the betting.
Has some solid form to his name but has been expensive to follow lately. Very disappointing last time out. The drop back to 2m may help but limitations are well documented and not one to trust without reservations. All that said, this is a weak race and he may be worth one final throw of the dice.
Two runs over hurdles have yielded little and has too much to prove to merit a recommendation in a tough event such as this.
0-from-12 so far and may need this after six-month break. Acts on the ground though.
Best effort to date came when third in this race last year. Had excuses last time out (rider lost his irons early, then the saddle slipped near the finish) but still managed to hang on for fourth place. Capable of going close but lacks the scope held by a few of the rest.
Most encouraging effort came when third under Katie Walsh in a Pro/Am bumper at Limerick in March., but was never a factor last time out. Faces a tough test first time over hurdles and may have to settle for a minor role.
Needs to improve on the form of his first two starts over hurdles and is hard to fancy on the evidence available.
Record in point-to-points is poor and recent switch to rules did little to bolster his profile. Others readily preferred.
Another that needs to improve out of all recognition to figure here. Safe to look elsewhere.
Struggled in both previous starts and hard to make any sort of case out for him just now. Best left alone.
Posted a handful of promising efforts for Aidan O'Brien on the Flat and is respected as a potentially useful recruit to the Jumps sector. One to bear in mind if the market is positive.
Stoutly bred but shown very little promise in two starts in point-to-points. Little to go on for this switch to racing under rules.
Well beaten in a mares only race last time out and better judged on her debut run at Thurles on better ground. yard respected but this mare has a lot to prove just now.
A maiden on the Flat for Henry Candy but has shown ability since switching to Jumps for her new yard. Previous form gives her solid place claims in this company. one for the shortlist.
Forecasts
Jacobs Well (5/2), Kolumbus (5/2), Denham Sound (7/2), Ciaoifsin (8/1), Treasure Chest (10/1), Tiger Track (14/1), Chasing Yesterday (20/1), High Five Oscar (33/1), Fruit Of The Lime (50/1), Ajabindejaw (66/1), Padraic O Conaire (100/1), The Crane Man (100/1), Supreme Ambition (100/1), Alessian Order (100/1)
KOLUMBUS has been expensive to follow but has much more solid form to his name than most of this lot. And may be worth another chance to deliver at this level. Denham Sound is improving with each run over hurdles and can make this a good test for the selection, while Treasure Chest is a very useful recruit from the Flat and is also worthy of consideration for a place in the frame at least. Ciaoifsin had no luck in running last time out, so would also be dangerous to leave out of the equation.
- Kolumbus
- Denham Sound
- Treasure Chest
