Faded close home when finishing fourth over C&D 17 days ago on testing ground. Better surface today should suit and showed enough last time to suggest he should be very much in the mix.
Never travelling on soft ground here 17 days ago and was eventually pulled up. Last win came here in handicap hurdle on good ground and return to this happy hunting ground should help. Does need to improve though on recent efforts.
Failed to score under rules when trained by both Philip Hobbs and Gordon Elliott. Landed maiden point-to-point in April for Martin Weston. First start today for new trainer back under rules and hard to make a case for on balance of form.
Lost his way last term after battling to victory at Uttoxeter on seasonal reappearance. Not seen since November and has joined a new yard. Has claims on last season's win and any market confidence would be worthy of note.
One win in 29 starts came in Punchestown handicap hurdle back in December 2014 for Thomas Mullins. Woefully out of form last four starts for current yard having made a fair start when runner-up at Worcester in September last year. Needs to show much more to figure.
Placed only twice in 15 runs over hurdles and makes chasing bow today. Hard to get excited about having appeared regressive over timber during the last year and others make much more appeal.
Nine-year-old maiden mare well beaten last six starts, five of which came in 2013/14 campaign. Returned from long absence and not completely disgraced when mid-division in Warwick handicap hurdle. Chasing bow may bring about some improvement.
Forecasts
David John (9/4), Sarpech (9/4), The Way You Dance (5/1), Cry Fury (7/1), Antiphony (7/1), Oh Dear Oh Dear (16/1), Indian Rupee (16/1)
Despite the steadier of top weight, SARPECH may prove good enough now encountering better ground than when fading late on over C&D last time out. In a modest contest, David John might improve for the change of scenery on his first start for his new trainer and could make a race of it, while you couldn't completely rule out a return to form for The Way You Dance, for whom their appears a significant jockey booking. The rest have plenty of work to do to get into the shake-up.
- Sarpech
- The Way You Dance
- David John
