Yet to demonstrate her ability on Tapeta, but has run well enough on Polytrack back in 2014 for Roger Charlton. Dropping in the weights, and last won off a similar mark at Pontefract in June 2016 (beating Henley) and fully capable over this 5F trip if sharper for a couple of recent outings on turf.
Beat Groundworker by ½L here in September 2016, and has continued to perform well at this track since (4,3,2,2,3,4) so should be on the premises. Dropped 1lb since being beaten into fourth (by just over 1L) by Intense Romance last month.
His sole career success came over this trip at Pontefract in July 2016, and he appears to need a stiff track. Excuses for his latest defeats at Thirsk (track, and 6F), but well treated on the AW compared to turf and no forlorn hope at a track which is highly likely to play to his strengths.
Goes well over C&D, and already twice a winner at this track in 2017. Struggled lately back on turf since a good run at Catterick in April, but has fallen back to a mark of 60, and this trainer saddled a winner of a 5F sprint here on Thursday evening (Henley).
Finished third to Parnassian on her sole AW start over 6F here in August, and went onto win on turf at Musselburgh in September (5F good). Slow to come to hand this term, but led latest and interesting to see what impact the first time blinkers have tonight.
In fine fettle over C&D in November and December 2016 (form that reads 2,1,1) but upped in the weights and remains 2lb above his last winning mark. Probably better for a return to this track, but others possibly slightly sharper and better treated at the moment.
Got the better of Prigsnov Dancer by ½L over C&D in November 2016 (from this mark), but has a string of rear division finishes against her name since. In good form between May and July last year, so possible that she'll prove sharper during the same period again this term.
Not won since August 2013 and therefore on a lengthy losing streak. Beat precious few home on her last five starts in 2016, and absent since August, so is impossible to fancy despite a career low mark of just 38.
Forecasts
Horsforth (6/4), Wilde Extravagance (7/2), Windforpower (5/1), Oriental Splendour (9/1), Hot Hannah (9/1), Novabridge (14/1), Lady Joanna Vassa (14/1), Sunrise Dance (66/1)
Fast and furious action to finish off racing at Newcastle until the Northumberland Plate Festival later in the month. Oriental Splendour concedes weight to all of his rivals but looks on a fair mark if a couple of sharpeners on turf have put him spot on for this race. Windforpower, Novabridge and Horsforth all know what it takes to win over C&D, but despite a moderate draw, a chance is taken that Joe Doyle can drop WILDE EXTRAVAGANCE in behind rivals and produce the four-year-old late at a stiff track which should suit to record a first career AW success.
- Wilde Extravagance
- Windforpower
- Oriental Splendour
