Cost 70,000 gns and showed plenty on debut and the experience to good use to score in good style over 1m at Cork in April. Merits respect on that form and makes the shortlist here.

Another that showed the benefit of experience to get off the mark at the second time of asking when blitzing home at Killarney last month - he was comfortably in control at the finish and created the impression he has plenty more to offer. Likely to be hard to master if he has thrived since then.

Cost $42,000 and won well on debut at Dundalk last month. His pedigree does lean towards the AW surfaces but still has bags of scope and will be a threat if he adapts to the new surface.

Joint top-rated on official figures and has some solid form to her name. Her latest effort suggests she is holding her form and, given that she has already contested Group races, she will find this grade more to her liking. Hard to rule out despite just one win from twelve previous starts.

Won a Leopardstown maiden in good style last summer but was subsequently put in her place at Royal Ascot. Her form has dipped since then and her three starts this season have been poor to say the least. First-time blinkers may help but she now has a lot to prove.

Caused a stir when she won by 6.5l on her racecourse debut but has been less impressive in each of her starts since then. This is still a lot easier than the Group 3 she contested last time out, however, and it would be no surprise to see her bounce back. The betting will be informative where this Born to Sea filly is concerned.

Cost just €23,000 but still has a likeable pedigree. Needs to step things up considerably after making no impression on debut at Cork last month. Hard to see her being good enough in this much better company.

Never a factor on her debut and very hard to see her finding anything like the requisite improvement to get involved here.

Forecasts

Gold Spinner (6/5), Muzbid (11/4), Elizabeth Browning (6/1), Perle De La Mer (6/1), Storm Ryker (9/1), Oh Grace (16/1), Ojinjintka (50/1), Moral Fibre (66/1)

Verdict

Dermot Weld won the 2011 renewal of this race and looks to have another leading candidate for top honours in the shape of MUZBID, who impressively got off the mark last time out and has the potential to take this in his stride. The mile trip is not an issue for the colt and he looks a solid option. Perle De La Mer is also highly respected and will be hard to keep out of the frame, while Gold Spinner is going the right way and represents good value for a speculative combination forecast. That said, Elizabeth Browning returned to form last time out and could easily spoil that party.
  1. Muzbid
  2. Perle De La Mer
  3. Gold Spinner
