Disappointed in two previous starts prior to finishing 6L third of six over 3m in a handicap chase here on good ground in April. Rated 1lb lower than winning over fences over an extended 2m5f here 13 months ago and had just the three starts over hurdles.
Well beaten in all starts in Ireland and not disgraced in small field point-to-point maiden races on final two starts in that sphere this spring. Beaten 9ÂľL into third on his return to rules over 2m at Hexham (good) last month and races off a 2lb lower mark here.
Finished runner-up on second start in bumper company at Ludlow (good) in March 2014. Had just four starts since and off for nearly two years prior to pulling up at Warwick (soft) over 2m3f on handicap debut in December. Probably best watched at present.
Best effort so far when finishing fifth on handicap debut at Worcester (good) over 2m4f last time out. Races off a 1lb lower mark here and interesting to see how she fares in this contest.
Beaten 24L in a selling hurdle at Taunton (good)on her penultimate outing in March and finished last of five at Sedgefield (soft) over 2m4f later that month. Making her handicap debut for a yard with a 27% strike-rate of late (4/15) and worth a check in the market today.
Placed four times from 15 starts over hurdles but well held in recent starts. Beaten 16½L at Worcester (good) over 2m4f last time out and likely to struggle here.
Maiden after 11 starts and beaten 28L at Sedgefield in a novice chase on good ground over an extended 2m3f last month. Wears a tongue tie for the first time on his return to hurdles.
Broke his maiden at the 12th time of asking at Southwell (good) over an extended 2m4f last time. Appeared to appreciate the drop back in trip on that occasion and likely to run well once more carrying a penalty in this.
Pulled up at Uttoxeter (good) over an extended 2mf in July and well held in two starts since. Latest came on his seasonal debut at Southwell last month and probably best watched here.
Wearing first time blinkers when finishing 2ÂľL second over 3m at Musselburgh (good) in January but disappointed twice since including in first time cheekpieces (retained) when pulled up at Perth last month. Others make more appeal in this.
Forecasts
Arboretum (7/4), Rock N'stones (7/2), Moscow Calling (7/1), Sirius Star (8/1), That Man Of Mine (12/1), Miss Benefitz (14/1), Malpreedy (14/1), Chicksgrove Sprite (16/1), Mahler Bay (16/1), Turkey Creek (20/1)
Last time out winner ARBORETUM can follow up his Southwell success last time out by taking this off his revised mark. In what looks a moderate handicap hurdle he can get the better of handicap newcomer Chicksgrove Sprite who showed promise in a selling event two starts back while top weight Sirius Star is taken to finish third having filled the same position in a chase here in April.
- Arboretum
- Chicksgrove Sprite
- Sirius Star
