Disappointed when beaten by a Hugo Palmer newcomer last time. Has Group winners in his pedigree and that last run may show he was unsuited by having to make the running. Open to improvement but others have shown more.

Bought for 19,000 gns and out of a dam who won an AW race. Stable in form but makes debut in a maiden where his experienced rivals set a high standard.

Not disgraced in pair of maidens over 6f at Ascot and Newbury in July, good chance there will be better to come as a 3yo and hails from a top yard.
First foal by High Chaparral who cost 200,000 guineas as a yearling but may well be seen to better effect over further given his breeding and an early Derby entry.

Invincible Spirit colt, cost 330,000 gns as a yearling and his dam was a Listed winner. Not knocked about on debut when owner's second string and ran a lot better than his final placing indicates. Retained rider on board now and a better show is anticipated.

His three placed efforts in maidens represent the pick of the form. Nevertheless, he has shirked a battle on each of those occasions and cheekpieces now go on. Yard 22-63 around here.

Bated Breath newcomer bought for €60,000 and related to several winners. Yard not renowned for first time out winners and this is a strong contest.

Daughter of Dream Ahead.. Half-sister to useful sprinters Major Crispies and Dam Beautiful and also eight-time winner Bosun Breeze. Weak in the market for Carlisle debut when going down narrowly to the well supported favourite. Showed signs of greenness that day and entitled to improve significantly.

Forecasts

Top Mission (10/11), Buxted Dream (11/4), Peach Melba (4/1), Malcolm The Pug (7/1), Saaheq (16/1), Pioneertown (50/1), Miss Pacific (50/1), Hanningfield (66/1)

Verdict

Top Mission represents the pick of the form but, with his battling qualities being questioned, it may pay to look elsewhere. Malcolm The Pug chased home a useful pair on debut but, as the race lacked depth, it is possible he was flattered by that effort. Buxted Dream and Saaheq have plenty of room to prove themselves better than their latest runs suggest. PEACH MELBA has something to find on form but chased home a more experienced and well supported runner last time. Mark Johnston's filly was weak in the market and that looked understandable as she looked very green. She was getting the hang of things close home and the willing attitude displayed that day could be the difference in this.
  1. Peach Melba
  2. Top Mission
  3. Buxted Dream
