A three time runner up in similar events over fences during the summer months of 2015, but exclusively back over hurdles for the past 18 months or so, winning at Bangor in October 2016. Might find this trip short enough if they go no gallop, so feasible that his rider might attempt to make all with only Elusive Theatre to beat on paper.

A 22 race maiden, and 0 from 15 over fences, so plenty to find with Shantou Tiger and Elusive Theatre at such weights. Hard to see how he'll be off the mark despite the small field barring accidents for his other three rivals.
Moderate form in Irish Point-to-Points (pulled up on four of her nine career starts) and makes her rules debut at an advanced stage of her career. Plenty to find with Shantou Tiger and Elusive Theatre at these weights and therefore a most unlikely winner despite the small field.
Bounced back from a crunching hurdles fall at Ayr in January to hack up at short odds in a 2m maiden hurdle (soft) the following month. Fairly consistent since in better company from marks in the low 120's which if reproduced now switched to fences makes her the horse to beat.

Forecasts

Elusive Theatre (2/5), Shantou Tiger (5/2), Beech Hill (20/1), Sussex Road (50/1)

Verdict

A poor turnout, and accidents aside, this is surely a match on paper. One can't help worry how Elusive Theatre will take to fences (has won a Point-to-Point), and her crunching January fall at Ayr remains freshly in mind now tackling the larger obstacles. She ought to be capable of winning this race with a clear round, but Will Kennedy might just get her off balance from the start if attempting to make all aboard SHANTOU TIGER, and we know definitively that the Donald McCain trained gelding has plenty of stamina, although probably lacks a touch of class.
  1. Shantou Tiger
  2. Elusive Theatre
  3. Beech Hill
