Placed three times at the track and wasn't beaten far over C&D last August, but does find himself 11lb higher than that here after a win at Musselburgh last November. Denied a run on Saturday due to the abandonment.
Not won since February 2016 when notching a double at Carlisle and generally below par. Well beaten (soon detached) over a shorter trip here on Saturday and plenty to prove at the moment.
Twice a winner at this track over 2m1f (July 2013 and August 2014), but has run here a further six times since then without really threatening to add to that tally. Did win over 2m3f at Musselburgh in November 2016, but off since the turn of the year, and might need this race with his trainer saddling four runners.
One of his three wins during 2016 was over C&D, and it's fair to say that this veteran is somewhat of a character. Dropped 2lb since a fair run behind Waterclock at Hexham earlier this month (fifth), and he should find the forecast conditions fine.
Doesn't win too often, but consistently within the frame over the past twelve months, and a runner up in three of his last four starts. No concerns with regards trip or ground, but perhaps the handicapper just has his measure.
Another of the Moffatt battalion, and no stranger to Cartmel having been placed four times here last year over trips ranging from 2m1f to 3m1f. Handicap mark slowly falling, and finished just over 7L fourth here to Curious Carlos on Saturday (2m1f).
Finished a couple of places in front of Bourne when third at Hexham earlier this month, and seemingly well suited by this combination of trip and ground. Consistent enough, but has only won once from 17 career starts and that Doncaster success came from a 12lb lower mark (95).
Winner of an extended 3m handicap hurdle at Aintree off this mark last June, but in poor shape during 2017, both on the Flat and over hurdles. Didn't relish a spin over fences at Hexham earlier this month, and goes back hurdling needing to show renewed vigour.

Forecasts
Boruma (13/8), Idder (7/2), Overtheedge (9/2), Grand Enterprise (5/1), Bourne (7/1), Smart Ruler (17/2), Mondlicht (10/1), Silver Shuffle (16/1), Pistol (25/1)
Local trainer James Moffatt saddles a four strong party with Idder, Mondlicht, Smart Ruler and Boruma set to take part in a nine strong field. Jockey bookings would indicate that Idder, and perhaps Smart Ruler are the leading contenders from that quartet. However, in a tricky to solve contest, a chance is taken that GRAND ENTERPRISE can provide the in-form Henry Hoggarth with another winner. His handicap mark is probably high enough, but he's a consistent enough sort who ran well at Hexham earlier in the month, and will be untroubled by both trip and forecast ground.
- Grand Enterprise
- Bourne
- Boruma
