Ran to a similar level of form in all four starts last season over 7f-1m. Gelded since last start in September. Half-brother to a winner over this trip, while dam also scored over it, so there are reasons for optimism in his pedigree and surely capable of better for his top yard, who try this route again rather than handicapping. Interesting.
Sent off 10-11 favourite and 3-1 in two starts this month, the latter over 7½f here, but has been well beaten on both starts. Yard in tremendous form, so you couldn't rule out a better effort, but will need to settle much better this time.
Runner-up both at Lingfield on each of his last two starts (7f, AW) in maiden company, but making progress with each run. Now tries turf for the first time, but given that both sire and dam were Group One winners on it, that should hold no fears, and a repeat of his last run or better would make him very tough to beat.
Has so far run over 1m4f and 1m2f, being beaten around 50L in total from those two starts. Is a half-sister to an Italian Listed winner over 7½f and 1m and her dam is an unraced half-sister to a 7f 2yo Group One winner, so the marked drop to this trip might see some improvement.
Well beaten in two Ripon maidens (both 6f, good) last season, when sent off at 80-1 and 100-1. Very hard to make a case for on that evidence and she looks likely to get more competitive when going handicapping.
First foal of an unplaced 6f-1m mare who raced only as a juvenile. Grandam a 6f and 7f two-year-old winner. Yard has had just one winner from 14 with its turf three-year-olds so far and this looks a tough assignment on debut.
Forecasts
Time's Arrow (4/11), Doctor Cross (3/1), Gloriosus (8/1), Snow Blaze (33/1), Princess Nearco (50/1), Nightdress (66/1)
The fact that Richard Fahey keeps Doctor Cross to maiden company when he could be handicapping is interesting and suggests that he believes that the gelding has a race like this in him. However, TIME'S ARROW looks to have been well placed here by Sir Michael Stoute and a repeat of his last run , or any improvement on it, would give him very strong claims. Gloriosus seems to have been showing more at home than at the racecourse so far, but a much better effort is not ruled out if Joe Fanning can get him to settle.
- Time's Arrow
- Doctor Cross
- Gloriosus
