Beaten 2¼L into seventh in a 12 runner contest at Doncaster (good-to-firm) over this trip last month. Disappointed twice since however and rated 3lb higher than for his Newcastle AW success in October.

C&D winner who dead-heated for a 5f race at Ripon (good-to-firm) last month but disappointed in a first time visor (absent today) off this mark at Pontefract subsequently. Interesting runner today.

Placed on her final two runs of 2016 including off this mark at Nottingham (good) over 5f in November. Latest success came off a 2lb lower mark at Beverley (good) in August 2015 and makes her seasonal debut today.

Winner at Newcastle off this mark in March but well held the last twice including at Goodwood (good) over this distance last time out. Contested a Class 3 event last time and this looks more realistic though the draw could have been kinder to him.

Dead-heated with Black Grass over 5f at Ripon (good-to-firm) last month and ran a respectable race when fifth at Doncaster (good-to-firm) next time out. Slowly away at Wetherby subsequently and worth a check in the market despite a moderate draw today.

Record of 4/15 on turf including at Beverley (good-to-firm) over 5f on her penultimate outing. Well held off this mark subsequently she is an interesting runner from a good draw in this contest.

Finished fourth on both starts this season including when beaten 1¾L at Musselburgh (good-to-firm) over 5f earlier this month. Has won off much higher marks in the past and wears blinkers for the first time from a good draw today.

Successful over 5f at Musselburgh (good-to-firm) in August last year. Well held when only eighth at Chester (good-to-soft) the following month and probably best watched on her debut for a new yard today.

Made the frame at Catterick over 6f on good-to-firm ground the last twice including when ½L second five days ago. Clearly in good heart at present but has a poor draw to over come as he seeks the seventh win of his career today.

Forecasts

Extrasolar (7/2), Black Grass (9/2), Lydia's Place (11/2), Just Us Two (13/2), Foxtrot Knight (8/1), Desert Ace (8/1), Bashiba (8/1), Rosina (9/1), First Bombardment (10/1), Royal Mezyan (16/1), Economic Crisis (33/1)

Verdict

DESERT ACE is well handicapped on his old form and can register his sixth win with blinkers applied for the first time today. The selection is well drawn in stall number two and has won off handicap marks in the high 80's in the past. Lydia's Place was successful on her penultimate outing and is likely to race close to the pace in this event. Of the remainder Extrasolar has a poor draw to overcome but has been in good form of late and he is the selection to finish third.
  1. Desert Ace
  2. Lydia's Place
  3. Extrasolar
