Chasing has clearly always been the plan as he was move straight to a beginners chase from novice hurdling, and makes his handicap debut here. Well-beaten at Towcester last time but that was by a long odds-on favourite (then narrowly behind the second horse), and though his opening mark looks a little high he should go well here.

Couldn't justify favouritism at Ludlow two starts ago and was well beaten at Southwell last time. May be starting to flag after a long season but he has shown flashes of talent and makes his chasing debut here off a potentially lenient hurdles mark.

Slightly inconsistent type who makes his chasing debut here with a decidedly mixed set of recent results. Has flown up the handicap and starts over fences off that mark, and would have a good chance if on one of his good days.

Only had two starts since Spring 2014, both resulting in heavy defeats. Has the potential to be better over fences than hurdles but still has his work cut out on this chasing debut.

Disappointing when a well-beaten favourite at Warwick last time, but impressed before that with six second-place finishes in a row. Looks to be knocking at the door and could easily return to form today.

0/18 in his career across all different forms of jumps racing, but a third at Chepstow three starts ago was possible his best attempt to date, and he deserves close consideration off a slowly shrinking mark.

Has shown little on his recent starts before you even factor in that he races from 20lb of the handicap here, and he is easily dismissed.

Forecasts

Copperfacejack (7/4), Dragon De La Tour (10/3), Ultimate Dream (9/2), Sacramento King (6/1), Belmont Park (8/1), Charlie Mon (10/1), The Society Man (100/1)

Verdict

This can go to BELMONT PARK. David Bridgwater's gelding didn't do too badly to finish third in a beginners chase at Towcester last time (when a 1/4 favourite was well clear of the second with the selection just behind). There should be more improvement to come over fences, especially given he has been started off chasing straight from novice hurdles, which leaves little doubt about where connections think he will be best suited. Ultimate Dream is feared most provided he's on one of his 'going' days, ahead of Charlie Mon, who could finally get off the mark in a race lacking serious depth.

  2. Ultimate Dream
  3. Charlie Mon
