13/8
Dual winner over hurdles taking a Musselburgh novice before winning on his second start in handicaps at Wetherby off a mark of 117. Failed to cope with a 5lb on his last start at Hexham and may well be more at home returned to novice company.

4/1
Flat maiden who showed improved form to score over hurdles at Ludlow on his penultimate start appreciating the positive tactics that were employed. Paid in the handicap for that win and ran poorly when pulled-up in a Sandown handicap last time (took a keen hold) folding tamely. May be suited by reverting to more positive tactics here if he can be forgiven his poor run last time.

Still yet to break his maiden over hurdles after eight tries and finished second again last time out. This sharp 2m may be the sort of thing that suits him best though and he's hard to write off for a local trainer with a good record here.

Showed very little for two previous trainers but given his current handler it wasn't a surprise to see him take a step forward last time out. May be capable of a little more improvement yet.

25/1
Showed some promise in bumpers and was given a considerate introduction to hurdling when taking sixth at Uttoxeter recently. Given plenty to do and the jumping left a bit to be desired but the sort to do better in handicaps once he has a mark.

Well held in a couple of bumpers and pulled-up on his hurdles debut at Newcastle when a 100/1 chance and looks as though he'll be starting at similar odds in this contest.
Looked reasonable on the Flat in2016 but well below form of late in that sphere and it remains to be seen how he takes to this new discipline.

Forecasts

Golden Town (6/4), Dear Sire (13/8), Jardin Des Plantes (7/2), Hazamar (4/1), Its Pandorama (12/1), Monar Lad (25/1), Jewelled Prince (50/1), Clayton Hall (66/1), Nailer (200/1)

Verdict

Golden Town deserves credit for his consistency but he does have the habit of finding one too good although this sharp track and trip do give him a good chance of getting off the mark. Hazamar has to bounce back from a poor effort last time out while it would be folly to rule out further progress from Its Pandorama given his connections. Don McCain looks to hold the key to this though and has a chance of landing a 1-2 here via DEAR SIRE and Jatdin Des Plantes. The former will be well suited by a return to novice hurdles and just gets the nod over his stable mate.
  1. Dear Sire
  2. Jardin Des Plantes
  3. Golden Town
