Has ability but plenty of quirks to go with it, as an overall record of just 1 win from 24 starts shows. Hard to knock some of his recent efforts and perhaps this tricky track will keep him interested, but comes with risks attached.

Won here on his first start for the yard (and that after a long absence) last year, so handles the track and likely conditions fine, May need a bit more to defy this mark but catching him fresh could be key, so looks a player today.

Easy winner at Market Rasen in Match but two subsequent below-par efforts only go to highlight his inconsistency. Needs to prove stamina for this trip too, and others now hold stronger claims.

Best efforts have come on good ground or quicker, and he was quietly progressive throughout last season, looking a useful prospect when winning at Stratford last August. On a fair mark for his return from a break and chances if wound up.

Just the one win so far and probably gets placed too often for comfort, but doing little wrong at present, trip and likely ground fine, and will give this a good go from the front. Not discounted.

Forecasts

Go West Young Man (2/1), Golden Investment (9/4), Box Office (7/2), Munsaab (11/2), Play The Ace (7/1)

Verdict

Only the five runners but this should be run at a good pace, with PLAY THE ACE , Golden Investment and occasionally Munsaab having all made the running in the past. Preference is for Peter Bowen's 8-y-o, who should be suited by conditions here and looked useful when winning last year. Go West Young Man knows a few tricks but if on his best behaviour, could be the one to give the selection the most to do.
  1. Play The Ace
  2. Go West Young Man
  3. Golden Investment
