Won here over 7f (soft) on debut last July and was then runner-up in the Listed Ascendant Stakes (1m, soft) back in September. Returned recently at Chester (1m2½f, good to firm) when sixth, beaten 10½L, behind Derby second-favourite Cliffs Of Moher in the Listed Dee Stakes. Dropped 3lb and in class and should be thereabouts.

A winner of two of his four starts last year at up to 1m, he never threatened the leaders when a 4½L third of nine at Chelmsford (1m2f) on his recent seasonal reappearance. May well improve for the run and can get closer this time.

Odds-on and a ready winner of his debut maiden (1m, good) at Sandown in September and returned there on his reappearance last month to score over same C&D (good) on his handicap debut. Runner-up and third have both been second in their next run, so form is solid. Up in trip and has decent claims of defying a 4lb rise in a slightly better race.

Beaten favourite here over 1m (good) on debut in October. Put that behind him on his return at Chelmsford last month (1m2f, AW) when beating subsequent Haydock winner Maghfoor. Third that day was also just held next time, so form looks good and with further improvement likely he could have a big say on his handicap debut from a mark of 85.

Was readied to win on debut (11-4 favourite, 1m2f, good to firm) in a Chepstow maiden earlier in the month. Front pair were 5L clear that day, so it looks a decent effort on paper. Handicapper doesn't looks to have hammered him for this handicap debut and with progress likely, he should be very competitive.

Forecasts

Atty Persse (1/1), Weekender (11/4), Laraaib (4/1), Total Star (12/1), Society Red (12/1), Mister Belvedere (16/1), Star of Rory (18/1), Something Brewing (20/1)

Verdict

Another competitive event to conclude the card and it might be a good time to catch WEEKENDER on his handicap debut, with the form of his maiden win having worked out well. Atty Persse is feared after winning on his debut in this sphere, while Laraaib is another handicap newcomer whose maiden win looks better than average. Star Of Rory should appreciate the drop in class and is not ruled out.
