Placed three times from 13 outings so far, bouncing back to form with good second of eight in a novice chase at Tipperary (2m7f, good) recently. Positive jockey booking boosts profile here.

Improved on second chase start at Tipperary (2m7f, good) 13 days ago to be third of eight in a novice contest, has 4L to find on runner-up Baily Moon but could have more to offer.

Unplaced in 13 starts over fence and has failed to complete in six of them, including when last spotted at Galway in October. Hard to build any solid case in this.

Shaped well on first start for this trainer at Punchestown in late April when 8L fourth of ten over 2m4f (good to yielding) over hurdles though wasn't in the same sort of form when turned out again quickly at the same track. Overall profile makes him hard be totally confident in but there is certainly potential there now going chasing.
Just three previous starts under rules for this nine-year-old and they've all been a struggle. Pulled up in a point-to-point last month and hard to fathom that he'll make any challenge in this.

Winner of a maiden hurdle over 2m2f (good) at Downpatrick in October 2015, hasn't exactly been progressive since in that discipline and at Killarney last week. Bit to find now sent chasing.

Beaten 27L in 2m4f good ground mares' beginners chase last month at Kilbeggan. Up in trip and this looks a tough assignment.

Forecasts

Milsean (13/8), Mahler Ten (2/1), Baily Moon (7/2), Go It Alone (7/1), Avondhu Pearl (33/1), October Revolution (40/1), Le Feu Garde (66/1)

Verdict

Milsean is perhaps the one to frame this contest around. He's got some high class form in the book over hurdles but hasn't shown his best since the end of his novice hurdling campaign in March 2015. He's has just two runs for this trainer, and there are enough doubts over him to suggest he's opposable at the likely prices now sent over fences. BAILY MOON had himself started to frustrate before a solid run at Tipperary recently where he was second over fences. With Townend on board this time, he could take this prize. Go It Alone, 4L behind the selection last time, is also in with a shout but the others all look best left alone currently.
  1. Baily Moon
  2. Go It Alone
  3. Milsean
