Beaten a nose by Wediddodontwe at Thirsk in September (6F) on his second career start, and probably out of his depth in a valuable sales race at Newmarket thereafter. Down in trip for seasonal bow and AW debut.
Improved on a moderate 6F debut effort at this track when fifth of nine at Carlisle in late summer 2016. Off since and will need a clear career best over this shorter trip to fill any of the three places.
Stablemate of Metisian and well related to various winners, but showed little in two starts on turf and makes his AW debut dropped 1F in distance..
Finished a well beaten third of four (as the market predicted) behind Savannah's Dream on debut at Thirsk earlier this month. Much more required now switched to synthetics.
As green as the infield when last of seven to Scuzeme on debut in a C&D maiden in January, and little reason to anticipate improvement despite a five month break.
Left John Gosden after two starts over 7F, and finished fifth on stable debut (6F) at Chelmsford last month. Regular dweller, which is a concern dropping back further in trip. Stablemate of Kodiac Pearl.
Seven previous tries at losing the maiden tag, but has shown enough to suggest she's capable of winning a small race. Finished third over C&D in October, which implies she handles this surface.
Shaped as if she needed the experience when fifth of six to Lahore on debut at Doncaster last month (5F good to firm). Cost £42,000 as a yearling so should be capable of winning races and with a US pedigree switches to synthetics for her second career start. Stablemate of Double Spin.
Ran a much improved race when finishing under 1L third to Musicka in a 6F Thirsk maiden last month (good). This drop back in trip should suit, and likely to be one of those going closest to troubling the judge in a moderate looking maiden.
Forecasts
Hamidans Girl (7/4), Mabs Cross (3/1), Gaval (4/1), Kodiac Pearl (7/1), Double Spin (10/1), Metisian (16/1), Yorkshire Rover (25/1), Noble Sword (50/1), Catskill (66/1)
A maiden which has a distinctly winnable feel, so a chance is taken that the well drawn KODIAC PEARL will have learned plenty from her Doncaster debut that will stand her in good stead now switched to synthetics. The likes of Mabs Cross, stablemate Double Spin and Hamidans Girl all have reasonable claims on paper, but are hardly 'world beaters', so there might just well be an element of value in seeking out a less exposed horse in such a poor contest.
- Kodiac Pearl
- Mabs Cross
- Double Spin
