Made the most of a fair mark to score at the 17th attempt at Thirsk last month (7F good). Up 4lb with extra yardage to tackle on AW debut.
Finished a never nearer sixth of 12 to The Name's Paver at Thirsk last month (7F good), having previously scored by ½L on the Southwell Fibresand at odds of 33/1 (7F). Has also won over this trip at Southwell in the past.
Previously with Colin Teague and makes stable debut having been absent since October 2016. Has winning form for David O'Meara from a mark of 75 over this trip, so well treated now (rated 60), and lightly raced on synthetics, which provides some hopes that a switch of stables can benefit.
Dropped 9lb for a couple of moderate runs for this trainer during December 2016. Stable back in better form now, but needs to show more overall.
Won by a head over 7F three starts back at Wolverhampton and remains 3lb higher for that success. Not the easiest too predict (can take a fierce hold in his races) but his C&D second from May 2016 gives him a clear chance from this mark.
14 race maiden, but fairly solid of late and has been placed in four of his last five starts. Appears to need a solid test (has form over further), so this stiff straight mile could well suit.
Slowly away and never on terms with the principals when seventh of 12 to The Name's Paver on stable debut at Thirsk last month (7F good). Had some pieces of form for previous trainer Les Eyre which give him claims and from a reduced mark isn't entirely discounted.
Has broadly reverted to type (overall disappointing) since springing a 33/1 shock over C&D in March. Still 3lb above that winning mark and can't be supported with any real confidence of a bold showing.
Gave his young rider a day to remember beating Justice Pleasing by ½L here over 7F in March from a 4lb lower mark. Finished behind both Grey Destiny and The Name's Paver in two starts since and steps back upto 1m having previously never won beyond 7F.
Formerly with Ralph Beckett but has made little impression since switched to this yard and remains a 14 race maiden. 0 from 3 on the AW and makes Newcastle debut from a plummeting mark of 50.
Midfield finishes in a couple of spins at this track in late 2016 but hasn't been anywhere near his best since joining this trainer from David Elsworth for 20,000 gns. Returns fresh from a break and extraordinarily well handicapped if ability remains, so no surprise if a better performance arrives.
Has finished last in each of his last two outings, the most recent coming off an eight month break at Southwell last month. Probably capable of better and a couple of placed efforts to his name, but needs to leave his recent form well behind to figure.
Forecasts
The Name's Paver (3/1), Muzaahim (5/1), Beverley Bullet (7/1), Symbolic Star (8/1), Luath (8/1), Grey Destiny (11/1), Thornaby Nash (14/1), Ivors Involvement (14/1), Nelson's Bay (16/1), Hellavashock (16/1), The King's Steed (16/1), Ginger Charlie (20/1)
A divided 1m Class 6 handicap to kick off the Newcastle action. The Name's Paver is an obvious candidate on the back of last month's 7F Thirsk success, and with his trainer remaining in good form, probably has the better of a number of these rivals. Grey Destiny is a rather tricky customer, but he also holds claims from this mark, and he was a winner at Wolverhampton in March. However, these low grade contests can often produce a shock result, so a real flier is taken with IVORS INVOLVEMENT. He won from marks in the mid to high 60's when trained by David Elsworth in 2015, and a chance is taken that he will return a fresh horse from a break with new trainer Tina Jackson seeking to recoup some of what is currently appearing to be a very expensive 20,000 gns purchase price.
- Ivors Involvement
- Grey Destiny
- The Name's Paver
