Only win came in a Chepstow juvenile hurdle in February, 2015, but ran well following a long absence two starts ago at Newton Abbot before under-performing at Warwick last time. Cheekpieces are fitted for the first time and need to have the desired effect if he to defy top weight.

Pulled up in a handicap chase on his debut for this yard following a long lay-off, but shrugged that aside to win over C&D last time when switched to hurdles. Blinkers were fitted for the first time on that occasion and they clearly worked, so it will be interesting to see what happens off a 5lb higher mark.

Beaten a long way at Newbury last time, but had previously won well at Plumpton in March when his stable was enjoying a purple patch. The cheekpieces he wore at Plumpton are back on, but he has a 7lb higher mark to contend with.

A bumper and maiden hurdle winner in seven starts, but cut little ice on her handicap hurdle debut at Stratford last July. Has not run since finishing third in a Southwell novice hurdle the following month, so fitness for this has to be taken on trust.

Best effort in five starts over hurdles came when second in a Taunton novices' handicap in March. He could not reproduce that form at Exeter last time and has plenty to prove off 1lb lower.

Running for the third time for his current yard when finishing second of five in a Chepstow maiden hurdle last month. He needs to step up again to be in the shake-up but, with so little mileage on the clock, that is entirely possible.

Dual point-to-point winner who has had only four races over hurdles, three of them for this yard. Would have a chance on his third at Ludlow in February, but two subsequent flops make him hard to fancy.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: T J O'Brien| T: H Morrison| OR:  105

Promise in bumpers, but little worthwhile form in five starts over hurdles. Too early to write him off, though, and it would be no surprise to see him run well for his respected yard in first-time blinkers.

Golanova18
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-13| J: J E Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR:  102
16/1
Returns to timber after running creditably in handicap chases, but it is almost four years since he won a Plumpton novices' hurdle and, although he is 5lb lower in this sphere, there must be a chance his speed has been blunted.

Forecasts

Midnight Monty (2/1), Ballyheigue Bay (7/2), Sebastian Beach (13/2), The Two Amigos (7/1), The Poodle Faker (8/1), The Happy Chappy (16/1), Golanova (16/1), Benefit Of Luck (16/1), Time Is Money (16/1)

Verdict

Midnight Monty was galvanised by blinkers over C&D last time and must enter the equation if they work again, but the one which catches the eye is BENEFIT OF LUCK, who seems to be improving and is not badly treated. The Poodle Faker, sporting headgear for the first time, could also get involved, while Ballyheigue Bay is also respected with the champion on board.
  1. Benefit Of Luck
  2. Midnight Monty
  3. Ballyheigue Bay
