Some promise in four bumpers before finishing second on his hurdling debut to the useful Capitaine at Wincanton. He should improve plenty for that experience and is one of the leading contenders.

1/4
AW Flat winner who has been runner-up in two of his three hurdle races. His latest effort, when second at Kempton, was his best effort to date and it is encouraging that the champion jockey is on board again. The one to beat.
Seven times a winner on the Flat, he has run only once over timber, finishing tenth in the Kempton race in which New Agenda was second. Has a mountain to climb on that form, but should do better this time.
Limited ability on the Flat for David Wachman before finishing well beaten in two hurdles for Gordon Elliott. Has his first run for another new stable and needs to find significant improvement to figure.

AW Flat winner in France who has run three times for his current yard, His latest start, when fourth over C&D last month, was not without promise and offers hope of more progress.

Busy on the AW during the winter, winning once in November. Has run twice over hurdles and his finishing effort at Southwell last time was disappointing. Hard to make a case for.

Forecasts

New Agenda (1/4), Hatem (6/1), Major Davis (9/1), Sandy Cove (33/1), Stonecoldsoba (50/1), Senior Counsel (100/1)

Verdict

Not much depth to this race and the two to concentrate on look to be Major Davis and NEW AGENDA. The former was well beaten by a talented rival on his hurdling debut, but he did show an aptitude for jumping that day and is likely to improve. However, the selection's form is stronger and has more depth to it, and it is encouraging that his top jockey rides him again. Hatem looks the one for minor honours.
  1. New Agenda
  2. Major Davis
  3. Hatem
