Placed twice from three starts in point-to-points last season and showed promise when runner-up at Stratford last time. He stayed on well there, so this stiffer track should play to his strengths. He is a player in an ordinary contest.
After two quiet runs in bumpers at Bangor and Haydock, he shaped much better when a clear second at Carlisle on his hurdling debut. That run alone would give him every chance, but the prospect of improvement makes him the one to beat.
Showed some promise in three bumpers, but looked an awkward ride when pulled up on his hurdling debut at Ludlow. Stable starting to hit form so, with the champion jockey booked, he may yet fulfil the promise of those bumper efforts.
Displayed signs of ability in three bumpers, so it was disappointing to see him pull up on his hurdling bow at Ffos Las. He took a keen hold that day and will need to settle better at this testing track if he is to figure in the finish.
Has already contested two novice hurdles at this track, finishing second of three before falling at the last next time when third after racing prominently. Likely to give it his best shot again, but may be vulnerable to a couple of potential improvers.
Not much to shout about in seven starts under Rules, four of them over hurdles. Connections reach for cheek pieces and they will need to have a positive effect if he is to get involved.
No signs of ability in a bumper and two novice hurdles. Impossible to fancy on those displays.
Forecasts
Alpha Indi (5/2), Barton Knoll (11/4), Somewhere To Be (7/2), Project Mars (11/2), Crucial Role (6/1), Oologist (50/1), Celestial Chimes (100/1)
With his stable starting to hit form, Crucial Role may be able to step up on a disappointing hurdling bow at Ludlow. Alpha Indi's last run was his best and he should appreciate this stiffer track, but BARTON KNOLL ran really well on debut over timber at Carlisle and, with further progress on the cards, can get off the mark.
