Strong showing on debut at Catterick in February (soft) when keeping on well to down a field of twelve which included the subsequent winner Golden Jeffrey (third). Probably found the ground quick enough at Sedgefield when narrowly failing to follow up beaten a head by Judge Earle. Sets a clear benchmark.
Unraced second foal by Dapper out of the dual Point-to-Point winner Lewesdon Duchess, and should be sharper going forward for this experience.
€9,000 purchase out of a dam who won five point-to-points. Ran well on debut at Southwell in what looked a decent race (won by the Nicky Henderson trained Royal Ruby). Taken out of a planned engagement at Warwick last week, but quickly back on track.

Regally-bred individual, but considering he went through the sales at 140,000 gns a as a yearling, it has to be disconcerting that he swapped hands for just £2,000 as a three-year-old. Slowly improving with each start, but surely held by Brecon Hill on the evidence of their clash at Sedgefield.

Stable can be known to saddle winners in bumpers, but this Black Sam Bellamy mare has a string of P's to her name in Point-to-Points and shouldn't be good enough today.

Forecasts

Brecon Hill (11/10), Quick Pick (13/8), Another Crick (2/1), Quest For Life (6/1), Naasik (8/1), Viognier (33/1)

Verdict

Following the untimely death of his trainer Alan Swinbank this week, BRECON HILL would be a most poignant winner. By all accounts, he sets the standard here and probably should be unbeaten after two starts, possibly being a shade out of his ground at Sedgefield recently and unable to quicken up on the drying ground until it was all too late. The obvious danger is Quick Pick, but he will most likely be forced to settle for second place once more.
  1. Brecon Hill
  2. Quick Pick
  3. Another Crick
