Buck House Hotel Handicap Chase

Won a 3m1f novices' handicap chase at Catterick last year (good to soft), which is is sole chase success and from 13lb higher. Has been consistent in finding one or two too good since then and plummeted in the ratings as a result. Drops in grade now and a better effort is not ruled out in first-time blinkers.

Hasn't got his nose in front for over two years and is 5lb lower than his last winning mark as a result of eight straight defeats since then. Went close to winning over C&D (good to soft) in March, which is his best effort in that time and despite being well held last time, you wouldn't completely rule him out now back here.

Confirmed the promise of three wide margin point-to-point wins when staying on well for a 4L win on his chase debut at Stratford (2m6½f, good) earlier in the month. Up 12lb for that. which looks tough enough, but he did string them out and he may be capable of another bold showing with the return to 3m a positive.

Has proven stamina with a 3m5f heavy ground Warwick win to his name and returned there to win a conditional jockeys' event over 3m (good) last week by ¾L with the front pair 25L clear. 6lb extra to carry here but looks capable of doing that.

1-17 over fences so far and has been out of form and pulled up in all of his last three starts. Prior to that he finished a head runner-up at Southwell (3m1½f, good to soft) from today's mark, so if this better ground helps him, he could come back to form though he clearly carries risks.

0-6 under rules and has been on the slide in the weights just lately, dropping 16lb for his last three outings over hurdles and most recently his well beaten chase debut at Leicester (2m, heavy). Plenty to prove.

Made the frame in a heavy ground novices' handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter in December (2m) from a mark of 84. 11lb lower now and handled a sound surface well enough on her second start over fences at Southwell (1m7½f) last time. Pedigree suggests that this step up to 3m will suit and she may get more competitive.
