Won a hurdle at Auteuil in September 2015 and has had two starts for this trainer so far in February and then November last year. Initial mark of 133 has been reduced by 4lb as he now makes his chasing debut. Dam was a half-sister to French 2m1f-2m4f hurdle/chase winner. Interesting.

Dual Listed hurdle winner and Grade One-placed. Second start over fences and was not always fluent when second of three on his chase debut at Uttoxeter (2m, good) earlier in the month. Also dropped 4lb on official ratings after that, though on those figures he is the one to beat.

Won two hurdles in Ireland last spring and goes into this race as the most experienced of the trio, having been placed in two of his four chases, at Ludlow (2m, good) and last time out at Towcester (2m5½f, good to firm). Could benefit from the return to shorter, but has a bit to find with the two principals.

Forecasts

Hargam (10/11), Lofgren (2/1), Crin Au Vent (7/2)

Verdict

Hargam was just a little disappointing on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter and was not fluent on a few occasions. He may well improve for that experience but he is not one to be going too short about for the moment and the suggestion is to take him on with the newcomer in the field CRIN AU VENT. Paul Nicholls' five-year-old has a few pounds to find with the likely favourite, but he has much more of a chasing pedigree and is being brought along steadily. That could begin to bear fruit to day. We have seen Lofgren a few times now and he needs to improve to trouble the other pair.
  1. Crin Au Vent
  2. Hargam
  3. Lofgren
