Only has a maiden win to his name and has tasted defeat in plenty of handicaps off this sort of mark on turf and AW. Back from a break at Yarmouth last time he was not seen to best effect but overall we know plenty about him.
Took a while to get going last year and it took a freshening break for him to land his Epsom win in August over 6f off a mark of 71 and the rest of his year was a little underwhelming. Back from a break again he won first time out this year at Thirsk again over 6f (well backed) held-up and winning in the end with a bit in hand.
Chelmsford maiden winner on his third start over 7f in a weak maiden springing an 80/1 surprise. Given a harsh looking mark after that but ran some creditable races in AW handicaps over 7f and a furlong further. Dropped down to 6f last time and back on turf and performed below his best.
Stable have a good record with sprinters and this one has some decent form to his name in the past but has lost his way of late and his usual blinkers are left off again. Fall down the weights continues but no real sign of aborting the decline in his form.
Hardly the most consistent of performers and still 6lb above her last winning mark with her best efforts coming when allowed to lead (unlikely to get a soft one here though). Not run on turf since last September and would be a surprise if she was good enough here.
Frustrating sort with a capital F and on a long losing run although he doesn't lack ability just the willingness to finish off his races (traded at odds-on in-running on four of his last five starts). Placed in his last five start and that tells the story and another place may be the best his supporters can hope for here if there are any left.
His win in GB came in early 2016 on the AW at Wolverhampton off a mark of 75 over 5f but overall his profile is hit-and-miss. Slipped down the weights and continues below form with his issues at the stalls becoming more and more marked of late.
Has to run from 6lb out of the handicap here for a stable that are a little quiet at the moment and he remains out of form. Even in a weak race like this he has plenty to do on his current form.
Forecasts
Ancient Astronaut (5/4), Captain Bob (4/1), East Coast Lady (8/1), Secret Missile (8/1), Rockley Point (8/1), Out Of The Ashes (10/1), Something Lucky (25/1), Great Expectations (33/1)
This isn’t a deep race to end the card with ANCIENT ASTRONAUT looking likely to be able to follow up his Thirsk win against a bunch that have had enough chances and he did win with a bit in hand last time. Captain Bob will more than likely travel through the rest as well as anything but his finishing effort always leaves a lot to be desired. East Coast Lady is effective with an easy lead although she’s not guaranteed to get one here with Out Of The Ashes and Rockley Point capable of making a race of this although a place may well be the limit of their ambitions.
- Ancient Astronaut
- Captain Bob
- Rockley Point
